Anyone had an Elevest procedure for prolapse?

I had at least 4 doctors tell me my surgeon was the best for this! He said it was up to me if I wanted it done at all or to just live with it (I don't think so!) if I wanted the Prolift mesh or not or if I wanted suspension or hysterrectomy, etc. I finally pinned him down and said, what would you do if I was your mother? He said I would tell you to keep as much as possible! So that is what I did. I won't ever be perfect but I am much better than I was, and I love the no backache and having a bladder like I did before kids! Keep me posted and ask anything you would like!

Anyone had an Elevest procedure for prolapse?

Thanks, PollyRi, I really appreciate your support! I have been on the phone mostly all day today about this -- Found a group of drs. in Plymouth, Minn. who do suspensions, (don't think I can get to MN), one dr. in Rochester, NY who does a suspension, and the dr. in Allentown, who turns out to be "the expert" on the elevest procedure. It's very difficult to get Ont. Health Insurance to pay for anything done in the States. But I was going to ask these drs., "If it were your wife, what would you recommend?" You have to pry it out of them@! But that is what I suspected, do as little as possible. Did you ask your dr. if he had any opinion re the elevest as opposed to suspension, risks, etc.?

I did not ask my dr about the difference between Elevest procedure. My dr would not tell me what he recommended until I asked him what would he do if I was his mother. Until then he said al the decisions were up to me, hysterectomy, suspension, prolift mesh, ligiments from my body, etc. I am very happy with the procedure I had and even though the rectocele wasn't fixed I am living well with it and it doesn't interfere with sex.
Keep me posted!

Anyone had an Elevest procedure for prolapse?

I called a group practice in Plymouth, MN -- MN Gyn & Surgery -- Dr's name starts with B -- & he was supposed to phone me back, but didn't. Same with Dr. from Rochester. Guess it's because I am from out of country. Did the dr. use your own ligaments? That sounds like a good idea to me. Did he mention if there is ever a reaction if they use surgical material or suturing? That dr. sounds like he knows much, much more than most incurious dr.'s! I go Mon. for an app't with the Elevest guy in Allentown, Pa.

My dr started with an r and his clinic is not called that. His name always reminds me of the guy on MASH, radars O. Pelvic medicine. He will use your own ligaments if you want but doesn't think it works all that well. My dr is one of the best I think. Keep me posted.

Thanks, I still can't get it. I hope the e mail works. It didn't go the first time I tried. Your dr. sounds great! Did he think artificial sutures work better? Do natural ligaments keep stretching?
