Why go through all that surgery and pain and not get a "perk"? I got a tummy tuck at the same time and love it! It IS an option. It cost $6,000 because that part isn't covered but if you think you need one and can afford it, it can be done after your GYN doc is finished! I am three weeks out from surgery --had uterus and cervix removed) and happy i did the tummy tuck with it.

Good for you - I would need liposuction because tummy tuck would do nothing for me!

First off, I hope your cancer is gone. They do lipo at the same time as the tummy tuck. What they do is tighten your abs, do some lipo, stretch your skin from the top down, get rid of the excess, make a new belly button and your done. You have an insicion from hip to hip. My doc did not use any staples or stitches just underneath the skin. On top they used a clear "tape" glue substance which is already gone. My scar is already fading. Plasic surgeons are good with scars! I went home with 2 drains and I admit was miserable for the first couple of weeks. I didn't take anything except Motrin because I was getting too constipated. It was all worth it to me!

it's all worth it

I had a bladder lift, tummy tuck with lipo and breast augmentation at the same time as my TAH. I knew it would be painful but also knew I only wanted to do this once. The recovery time is the same so I wont have to miss more work. I got a break on the price since I was already going to be in the hospital with insurance paying for my stay TAH bladder lift and med's... The first 2 weeks were really rough. I am now four weeks out and feeling great. My tummy is flat, I am already one dress size smaller, my new belly button is looking pretty and my breasts are where they were when I was a teenager, only a bigger. I feel like I just set my clock back 20 years. I have no regrets.

I wish mine would have done one LOL. I asked but he preferred me not to since he was doing so much "Work" I think he would have if the plastic surgeon agreed but being a military hospital, cosmetic work is too low on the list to schedule it at the same time (At least here it is) Now I am trying to loose some more weight so I can can one done in the next year. I'm so jealous!

I got lucky - I gained and lost 78 pounds with both pregnancies (last one 8 years ago 7-23) and I was close to my goal weight before I got pregnant. I had all this loose skin - from previous left ovary removed (with growth) and also many laproscopy scars and a caesarian from my last huge baby (10lb 11 1/2oz and 23 inches long - and he was 2 weeks early). So when it was quickly decided I needed to have this done (5 days from Dr checkup to surgery for 2 masses on right ovary, ended up with TAH). Well I asked my Doc if he could take a couple of inches and just pull all that loose skin, and my wonderful Dr Nuebeck said he thought he could. Well I am on day 16 and I gotta say, its not the $6000 tummy tuck cost, but I can defianately work with this! He cleaned together all the scars so they are way under bikini line, and there is just a little pudge left, that I know with my working out (which I cant wait yet am patiently doing just that) I can get that to be a nice slim belly, the one I had before 2 kids in 15 months and 78 lbs (thats what happens when you quit smoking the same weekend you get pregnant!). Wow though I never thought to throw the boob lift in there too! I cant complain though, and my husband says it looks good too. Also had to brag to my friends, and all you guys too!

Ladies! Make it fun--get a tummy tuck too!

I had a TAH on June 4th and I wanted a tummy tuck. My dr. did not agree with this. He said that was the worst thing to do. He told me if people knew how dangerous it was doing a hysterectomy & tummy tuck at the same time, they would think twice. He said the main reason is a person is under anesthesia just entirely too long and that is one of the reasons your recovery can take longer plus all the constipation with pain pills. He is somewhat opposed to plastic surgery but not completely. He is a very, very conservative dr.. I did have a friend that did both of them she told me that if she could do it again, she would of done it separately. She said that the AH was worse than the TT. She also had breast lift. She said it took her a while to feel better. Even though she did both, she in her honest opinion even though she's happy with her results and is happy she got it over with, she still advised me to do it separately too. So i didn't do it and really i didn't have the money yet so now i'm just recovering from my hysterectomy and that is exhausting.
To all the ones that got the TT, I'm jeleous and can't wait till i get mine, i might add a breast lift with it. I'll see.

I am scheduled for my surgery on 8/6 and have been shopping around for a plastic surgeon for a TT. I have been wanting one for years and my husband thought it unnecessary. Now he sees how much pain I am in and feels I should get something out of going through all of this. Can anyone describe in detail the recovery with the TT and Hyst? I really don't know what to expect.

I don't expect my doctor to say he'll do it, but I have every intention of asking him if he can lop off a couple extra inches of skin tomorrow! Maybe he can call it a "biopsy sample"! LOL Heck, he already said he's going to look at my appendix and take IT out if it looks the least bit wonkity... I'm pretty sure my lower abdomen looks WAY more wonkity than my ol' appendix!

Hey Sisters,
I'm reading some great threads from those who say YEAH DO IT! So, I'm getting mine together when I visit my gyno again on the 22nd. I didn't know it way even possible and now I'm going for it. Look under the thread "Hysterectomy and Tummy Tucks" and you will be amazed of all their great info.
