Ultrasound today....uterus not where it should be???

Hi All! I just came back from my ultrasound appt. As she was beginning the transvaginal ultrasound, she said, "So you do not have a uterus, correct?". I said, "Uh, yes ma'am I still have my uterus?!?" She then said that she could not find it???!!!! What??? So she had to "look" for it...Where would it have gone to? So She digs deeper....ouch...and it has lifted out of my pelvis and is sitting on my spine...which would account for the back pain...She doesn't say much else...I guess we will talk more in depth on Wednesday with the Dr. I guess I expected too much today, but the sonograhper was only there to take pictures, and to measure stuff...i looked over her shoulder and saw a measurement I believe...8 centimeters for one of the fibroids. Anyway, I will know more on Wednesday. Thanks for listening!

I have heard of a "tilted or tipped uterus". Maybe that's whats happened? Be sure to ask if your doc doesnt mention it.

SouthernSpice that is exactly what happened to me! That's a big fibroid. I have a few of those and they are pushing on my spine, bowels, & rectum (nice not!). My gyn tried to push it out from that area but couldn't (that hurt for a few days). I have incredible back pain and a lot of heaviness in my pelvis. My periods have been quite painful for a couple years. 10 yrs ago the fibroids were really small - they grew. It is called an inverted uterus. 2 of my sisters have the same thing - it tilts upwards - they both had lots of kids anyway - I dont' have any.

I am receiving lupron shots to try to shrink my fibroids prior to having a hysterectomy in hopes to having it vaginally instead of abdominal - better recovery. I am not a candidate for embolization since it is touching other organs. Though I'm sad to have to have a hyster I will be grateful to be rid of the pain. Good luck with your results.
