4 weeks post-op-low grade fever,pain...

Hi Ladies,

I am 4 weeks post-op (TAH BSO). The last few days I had a low grade fever. I am a little worried because I didn't expected to have one now. I would understand it during the first 2 weeks, but now?

Also I am still having pain. Somedays more, somedays less. I would say 5 or 6 on a scale 1-10. I know everybody is healing different. I guess I 'm just getting tired of all the pain and the setbacks. It's like one step forward, two steps back.

BTW, tired! I am sooo tired all the time. I don't do much. Dishes, dusting, that's it. I lay down alot. Anybody else?

I don't have much of an appetit either. I ate really good before, exept the first week. I was nauses and my gyn precriped something for it. Now I feel nauses again and have to make myself eat.

I don't take any hormones yet. I go to my follow up appointment on Tuesday. Maybe my doc can answer a few questions.

I appreciate any input on this!

Take care.

Patty

Dear Patty,

I'm so sorry to hear about your temp and your pain. You might want to call the Dr. about that temp, especially if it goes over 100. You should call the Dr. anytime at all that you're concerned about your symptoms, but you'll have to tell him all you've been doing.

I know that you overdid it quite a bit recently, and wonder if you've been staying in bed enough. You said before that the dustbunnies could wait, but now I hear you're dusting again. Eat off of paper plates for awhile so you don't have lots of dishes to do if no one else will do them.

Yes, the pillow police are on your case! but only because we care!

Patty, please quit doing the housework, and listen to your body. It is crying for more rest! Ask friends, do whatever you have to do to get some help so you can rest more.

Please remember that the early recovery period for this MAJOR surgery is 6-8 weeks long...you are barely halfway there! That means 6-8 weeks of taking it VERY easy!

You only have ONE chance to heal properly from this surgery, and this is it!

My very best to you...

Linda

Linda,

I guess you are right. I thought I was resting enough and I was up to doing some light housework. I was wrong!
I just couldn't stand these dustbunnies anymore.
I guess I have to learn the hard way. Good thing the weekend is almost here. My husband can take care of our son then and all I WILL be doing is stay in bed!!

Thanks,
Patty

4 weeks also

I am also 4 weeks and feeling much the same way. I do not have a low grade fever though. I would probably call the Dr. on that one. I still have lots of pain in the abdomen. Especially when I overdo. Now, overdoing to me is out to lunch and then out to dinner for four hours. No, I did not lift, stretch, pull or punch, but I sat for long periods and then spent the next day with pain at about a 6! We keep getting told to rest, it is just hard to do.
I also do not have an appetite yet, but I am glad!! I do have many sleepless nights. Two nights ago, I never even went to bed, did not sleep all night long. Crazy part was, I wasn't even sleepy tired. Last night I took Benedral so I would sleep.
Email me if you would like to talk. Judy

Dear Patty and Judy,

Just a couple of more weeks of resting may make all the difference in how your recover. I encourage you to hang in there, and get much rest OFF your feet. Prolonged sittting will only put lots of pressure on the healing situation.

Truly, I remember how hard it was to "not do". I was busted by the Pillow Police for pulling weeds at 3 weeks!

You ladies are WORTH a good recovery, so continue to pamper yourselves!

My very best to you...

Linda

Oh Linda- you sound so much like me. I want to SO BADLY go out there and pull the weeds that are spouting up around my front bushes even though I have mulch there but I know they are tough weeds and it will be hard pulling to get them out so I'm being a good wittle

Oh and I agree on the paper plates thing- I took that advice (was it you that gave me that advice Linda?) and it sure made a huge difference in our dishes problem. I think I might continue the paper plates thing even after I'm out over this recovery stuff. hahahaha
