2 week recovery for LSH?
I'm scheduled for a LSH on 4/21 and the doc said most of her patients return to work in 2 weeks.... really??? That seems so fast?!? She also said that it is normally an outpatient surgery, which also seems rushed to me. Am I crazy to ask if I can stay in the hospital for one night?
I understand that the incisions are small and few, but still seems quick for all the work they do on the inside, isn't still a major surgery?

Do keep me posted! I'll be one week behind you!
I guess how some would recover better at home. I guess I'm a nervous-nelly and would feel better being at the hospital in case there are any problems. I'm sure I'm being overly paranoid.
I CANNOT wait to be on the other side!

2 week recovery for LSH?
I had my LSH on 3/4 and it has been a surprisingly easy recovery. I felt well enough to go back to work in one week (but decided to take it easy) and 2 weeks was certainly plenty. All of us recover differently but I lucked out. I stayed overnight in the hospital though (they need to monitor you for 23 hours) - the incisions are so tiny, you just wont believe it. How they pulled a giant uterus and fibroid through such a tiny hole is a miracle. I had a top class surgeon who is one of the best in the field - which helps. I wish you a safe operation and easy recovery.

2 week recovery for LSH?
I'm just amazed that you felt well enough to work in just a week!
I guess I will schedule out 2 weeks from work to be safe. However, they are expecting me to be gone for at least 4, since I initially thought my doctor was going to do a TAH.
Maybe I should just take the 4 weeks and enjoy!
Was the pain bad for you? I'm honestly more scared for the post-op nausea than anything. I had surgery 3 years ago and had no problems, but I'm still scared to death of nausea!

2 week recovery for LSH?
i was back to work in less than a week and got the all clear from my dr at two weeks to return to the gym, run, have sex etc. i was lucky too and had a very easy recovery. the first two days were rough from the gas pains from the lap, but after they went away, it was smooth sailing. you can request to stay overnight..i cannot imagine being released the same day with the way i felt. i actually stayed 48 hours for pain control. good luck

2 week recovery for LSH?
Hi Ellie0703,
I also had a LSH. I went back to work at 2 weeks with my Dr's okay. I just delegated work when I needed to and took some breaks. I might say...just let your body tell you in post-op when it is ready to go back to work. We Hyster Sisters all heal at different speeds. If you have four weeks off...you might just go ahead and have your Post-Op Princess time.
I had my hyst as an outpatient. Surgery at 7:30 AM and I went home at 6:00 PM. I had the option to spend the night if needed. So..I think your request to want to spend the night seems very fair. With me, how I was doing in the post-op recovery room after my hyst determined if I was going to go home or not.
Sending best wishes~
Mary

2 week recovery for LSH?
I, too, got the "all clear" from the doctor at 2 weeks. The doctor told me I could return to work in 1-2 weeks.
I could have returned to work in 1 week if I had to, but I stayed home 2 weeks and am easing back half-days for a while. I am probably older than many of you (I am 57) and as much as I hate to admit it, my stamina is not quite the same!
Personally, I would take the 4 weeks, get well rested and enjoy the break.
I did stay overnight. It took a little while to pee by myself, and I think I may have been panicky about that if I had been at home already. Plus, the pain medication at the hospital was great.

2 week recovery for LSH?
I spent one night in the hospital. They removed my catheter around 5AM and I got up shortly after that to use the restroom. My Dr. came in around 10 and asked if I wanted to go home and I felt ready at that point. I showered and was released after lunch. I am glad that I spent the first night.
I was released at 2 weeks for everything. I limited myself with lifting for a few weeks and vacuuming.
As far as pain, I took one pain shot when they took me to my room and then one vicodin the night I came home from the hospital. Other than that, I didn't need anything for pain.
I recovered very quickly and I wish the same for you. Just listen to your body and it will let you know when you are overdoing it.
