Is that the Mexican wild yam? The only thing I have heard of is Oil of Primrose. Do you use any of these?

Evening primrose oil is useful for supporting hair health and it's anti-inflammatory properties. Not a substitute for estrogen replacement, as far as I've heard and experienced. I've been taking it for several months and it's been very beneficial to me in terms of hair loss and joint comfort. Of course, I also take bio-identical estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone and will do so indefinitely - probably in decreasing doses as I age.
About the only female hormone replacement products that can be had over the counter are estriol cream (estriol is a very weak by-product of the body's synthesis of estradiol and is a more prevalent circulating estrogen in post-menopausal women) and progesterone cream. There is quite a bit of information in the resource links on this site to help you.

What Are you doing about Menopause?
I had my TAH 2-19-2008 & I get mine through a compounding pharmacy in Atwood KS They are great. I had my normal Dr. that was willing to help me get on the totally natural Bio's help me fine this place. They sent me a packet & I filled out the paper work and sent it back that same night took a little over a week to get the cream in the mail and they put me on 1/2 ml twice a day of progesterone to start out. It has been 1 month and they now think that I am ready to have estrogen with the progestrone cream ( mixed together). <admin note: phone numbers not allowed in posts>they can help you with any questions you may have. Good luck.

You may also want to try Women's International Pharmacy (just google online) or Bellevue Pharmacy (advertised on this site). Pete Heusmann there is extremely helpful (sort of dry on the phone, but very knowledgable) He tweaked my stuff and I feel wonderful now
Good luck
