Does this pain sound like adhesions to you?

Had TAH in 1999 and then a BSO in late June 2007. So, everything is gone - and I'm still having pain. If I didn't know that my left ovary was gone, I'd swear I was ovulating (although it's not just once a month, it's more constant) or having cyst problems like I did before the surgery. Ouch!

I go the gyn for my yearly exam this Thursday - and I *will* be telling her, but I wanted to see what the 'sisters' thought. It's low low left, right where my ovary would be if it was still in there..... Thanks for any help!

Does this pain sound like adhesions to you?

I am wondering the same thing. Or maybe it could be ORS - ovary remnant syndrome. I have read a bit about ORS on this very informative site.

I have still got my ovaries but probably not for very much longer but I don't have or never have had any cysts. I read every post that mentions pelvic pain to try and get an idea what my problem is. My concern is if I have the ovaries removed will it guarantee that I wont have the pain anymore. My GYN says that adhesions shouldn't cause that much pain but I am starting to doubt this as there is not much else left to cause this pain. I have had my right kidney and appendix removed in the past as well.

I hope you get some answers from your GYN and please let us know.

Ellymia,
I had a BSO in July 2007 and about a month ago I started having pains on my left side where my ovary used to be . It feels just like it did when I would get cysts. I get the bad pains, nausea, and diarreha (sorry TMI ).So I had a U/S done and they didnt find anything wrong. My gyn said its either diverticulitis or adhesions on my colon. I have to go Tuesday morning to a Gastro Dr. I'll keep ya posted on what they find out.

Does this pain sound like adhesions to you?

Awwww, Sherrie!!! How sweet to check on me!!! ((hugs))

Yes, had my yearly checkup on the 17th, told her about my pain and how it seemed to be getting worse & worse. Since I was SO FULL of adhesions in late June, she knew that this was adhesions and we scheduled surgery (she said there was no way to 'test' for them, basically just had to do the lap to find out).

Soooo, I had laparoscopic surgery TODAY! Surgery at noon, home at 3:45 - I was shocked, woohoooo! (and I'm a heart patient too, so I was really surprised I went home - but I feel great!)

I didn't get to talk to my dr today, but she told DH that I had "severe adhesions" and they were hooked to my bowel, pulling on that too. He thought it was funny when he asked her "how many did you remove" and her reply was "LOTS!". Everything went great and home with some happy pain pills for a couple days. I can already tell the biggest difference, the pain in the lower left ovary-less area, is gone! Woohoo! (just some belly button area pain and a little on the other little incision)

How are you doing? What did you find out?
Hugs!!!

I'm so glad your doing better. I went and had a colonoscopy and they said everything looked good . My obgyn and gastro dr said its adhesions or endo or both so I have to go see a surgeon. I hope they can do it lapro like you had. I see you had abdominal surgeries in the past also and they were able to do it lapro for you this time so fingers crossed they'll be able to do it that way on me. Take it easy and rest
Talk to ya soon

Hi Carla, Sherry and others ~ glad to see all went well with your surgery.

I have a question for you both. I was having the same lower left side pain and pulling feeling ~ so am scheduled for laparo on May 12th. However, the past week, I have not felt it that much.

Did your discomfort come and go or was it constant? I had it pretty constant for a few months and it would be allright for a few days ~ so was wondering if that was the same for others.

Inkera,
It does feel better on some days then others. Mine feels like when I use to have cysts. That achey feeling . Some times it gets bad enough that I want to go the ER.

My pain was always there, but some days it was a dull pain, or like Sherrie said, just achey feeling - other days it almost hurt to walk!

I hope everything goes well with your surgery Inkera - and Sherrie, I hope you get yours done soon too!!! Yes, my surgery in late June was abdominal and this one on Mon was lap... I'm still pretty tender though, which you may notice too, being that our previous surgeries aren't too 'old'.
Hugs!
