Abnormal Pap Smear, but not cancer....

I went for my internal about a week and a half ago and the GYN/ONC said everything looked fine.

I just got my Pap results and he said there are some abnormalities, but it is not cancer. He still wants me to wait 6 months before I see him again and doesn't seem concerned or in a hurry to see me. He said he can't re-test for 6 months anyway.

I had a very bad cold (bronchial) at the time and was on antibiotics and cough syrup, which I told him at the time. Could this have been the reason for the abnormal pap. I never had an abnormal pap, and was only diagnosed with cancer as a result the biopsy results.

Has anyone else had this happen? What could this be? The more I think about it, the more worried I get. When I was on the phone with him while I was in work it was hard for me to talk and I was just happy to hear that it wasn't cancer. Am I making too much of this? What do you think?

you might want to call him back if he didnt tell you exactly what the pap showed. it will probably make you feel better. i've had a few abnormal paps and have never had cancer. you can also call the office and ask for a copy of the pap results.

Thank you for telling me that DressedIpinBlue. He did tell me it definitely isn't cancer so I guess I should be happy with that.

What was the problem with your pap smears?
