Second Guessing my decision

Is anyone else going through this? I am scheduled for a LSH on April 22nd, today I go to the drs for the last time, and I just want to say no and run. I feel sick in my tummy and thinking I can live with this, I am really scared. I dont have any family in this country except my hubby and kids so really cant sit down for a heart to heart cry with anyone. I know my DH wants this more than I do for the libido. But, I am scared this won't fix it. I have over 9 fibroids and have finally stopped bleeding after months this week. Can u beleive that? I am worried if I say no today, it will start again and I would have made a mistake. I know I am goimg on and on and I apologise I am sitting at work going crazy..sorry

Second Guessing my decision

It's so easy to second guess yourself. I was absolutely panicked last week (my surgery was this past Tuesday. But I can tell you that I already feel like it's the best thing I've ever done. One of my fibroids was entwined with ligaments, which I believe has caused a lot of my back/hip pain over the years. And there were other things, too, that they didn't know ahead of time. Nothing scary, but now that it's gone I expect a lot of my problems to be gone.

I can't tell you what to do, but I promise I'm feeling good about my decision.

Second Guessing my decision

Hi Araluen,

I agree with Fibroids'RUs. It is easy to second guess.

I remember my last appointment before my LSH and I still could not believe I was having a hyst. I wanted to just wake up from my anxiety-ridden dream of waiting for surgery. I had just finished (3) months of lupron shots to shrink my fibroids enough for surgery..and they had shrunk..my periods had stopped..and I was feeling pretty good right before surgery. I started thinking too..do I really need a hyst???

I did go ahead with my LSH and it is still one of the best things I ever did for my long term health. I now have a quality of life without fibroids and without heavy-scary periods. I would do my LSH again in a second to have what I have now.

Hope that helps.

Sending best wishes~

Mary

Second Guessing my decision

i agree with everything said i just had mine tuesday and even with the minimal amount of pain iam in it was worth it because i had large fibroids and such heavy bleding that stoped alittle before the surgery but would have returned , i dont have much help besides my hubby either but its still worth it to know my life will be better quality now. good luck and im sure youll do fine !!

Second Guessing my decision

Thank you everyone, everything helps. I just got back from the Dr. and now she is thinking it will have to be either vaginal or abdominal as everything has grown. Just wondering how many switch from a LSH after looking at the laperoscopy and end up the other.

thanks and love

Second Guessing my decision

Hi Gail
It seems most of us struggle with terrible anxiety, which often turns into excitment at finally having relief in sight!
But if you are not certain, please read up on the alternatives, there's lots of info on this site about alternatives to hysterectomy.
You need to comfortable that this is the right decision for YOU.
I wish you peace of mind - ((hugs))
