Do I need Progesterone??

I am already on estradiol .5 mg daily, but still feel like i retain water all the time, and have a horrible time sleeping at night. I was at the Dr the other day, and he said that I have no need for it since I have no uterus, but I beg to differ. Will progesterone help me?? or some form of bio- identical cream?? like wild yam or something?? I really don't like the no sleep, and the water retention.

Do I need Progesterone??

Some women need progesterone after a hyst, some do not. Those that have not had a hyst need progesterone as progesterone protects the uterus when one is taking estrogen, that is why many doctors believe no uterus = no progesterone. However, progesterone has other benefits besides protecting the uterus. Here's two articles about the use of progesterone and its benefits:

Progesterone: Do I need it?

I am one who needed it after my tah/bso. I've been using since I was about six months post op. The dose I need now is much less than I needed in the beginning, but I do still use it.
