progesterone and estrogen questions

Ok so I have endo and just had a hyst. In my pre-op appointment my doctor told me that he doesnt want to give me estrogen because it could cause any endo left over inside of me to grow and cause me pain.. but he was thinking about putting me on some progesterone.

Well, I was handed a prescription for pain meds and hormones on my way out of the hospital. I didn't pay much attention honestly but now as I am reading over the hormones, he gave me estrogen only. I'm so confused!

I'm going to ask whats up and not take them until I find out. But just so I have some more knowledge, I'm going to be some research and was wondering if anyone had any comments. Isn't it right to not take estrogen because of my endometriosis? What does progesterone do when taking it alone?

Im not sure what the diff is between estrogen and progesterone, but I to had a TAH for endo and my doc said he was going to wait till 2 months post-op to put me on any meds to let the left over endo die.

It sounds like your DR may have made a mistake. I would call his office and ask him if he meant to prescribe estrogen-only HRT for you given your endo history and give him a chance to either explain his decision or correct it.
