Free Fluid..Please help!! Scared!

Ok...short history...im 30 years old...with a soon to be 3 year old child. about 1 year ago i started having mid cycle spotting...after numerous dr. appts, changing drs. etc...i got diagnosed with polyps. These were removed in december. Pathology came back negative...(yeah!). At that time also i had a 6 cm cyst in my right ovary...they were just going to watch it. In march i went back for my recheck....i had been having some side discomfort....cyst was now gone...but i had 6 cm of free fluid around my rt ovary...they attributed it to cyst rupture. I then demanded a CT scan...all came out fine. And all blood work was fine. (didn't have CA 125...dr. doesn't like the false positives) Since then i have had 2 more trans vaginal ultrasounds...one with free fluid down to 4cm and yesterdays with the free fluid to 3 cm. My dr. says all is fine....but i get nervous....still free fluid!!!! She says no tumors detected on transvaginal OR CT scan. Blood Work is fine and my fluid is clean..she says that ultrasound and CT would detect cellular components in fluid if it existed.....Please help...should i be freaking out!!

Hi,

I had to jump in here - 10plus years dealing with cysts - free fluid could just mean the cyst is dissolved especially since it is not on the US. Do you have faith in your doctor?? You seem to be follwing the corect steps and watching it!! RELAX This is just my

Free Fluid..Please help!! Scared!

I do trust my dr, but when she can't even give me reason as to why the free fluid would still be there. It should be dissolved totally by now (almost 2 months!). I do know if i should just tell her i want a laparoscopy....she would do one if I told her i wanted one, She just didn't feel it was totally called for right now. And there is always in my mind....what if in 6 months we decide to do surgery...and it comes back as something like caner....i waited this whole time!

Well you do bring up a good point. You need to do what is best for you and gives you a piece of mind. That is why after my last cyst was solid I had them take out both of my ovaries. Too much stressing EVERY day - life is too short!! I did it because Mom died of OVCA. But at the same time - take a deep breath........

JKA,

I honestly don't know enough about what could be causing the free fluid to offer any knowledge, but what struck me about your post is that the amount of free fluid has been decreasing with each test. To my uneducated mind, this is a good thing.

I've read that it is not uncommon to have an amount of free fluid in the pelvic area. This could be caused by many things: since you haven't had a hysterectomy, it could be your menstrual cycle, pregnancy, or something like Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, for example.

I'm glad you've had such good diagnostic help, but I suggest a strong follow up with your gynecologist. I hope you get to the bottom of it, and that it's something that can be easily dealt with.

Good luck!
