I'm packing my hospital bag and i was thinking about the surgery binder-do I have to come up with or the hospital will do it?

Hello!
Not everyone uses a binder- depends on the Dr or Hospital policy I think. My hospital gave binders to women who had c-sections, but not to the Hyst gals. I used my own wide, ace bandage when I got home. In the hospital, the only thing I could bear on my belly was a bag of ice.

Just take a small pillow to the hospital to hold against your belly when you walk and especially when you are leaving the hospital for the car ride home

My doctor ordered one to be put on the 2nd day provided by the hospital. Each doctor is a little different. I thought it was wonderful for the first 2 weeks, then only wore it when I was up and out of bed. By week 5 I really didn't feel I needed it. When I went back to work and was on my feet a lot, I got a pair of support undies that gave my tummy support for the first month. Now, I'm good. Best wishes.

I think it depends on the hospital. My mom and I both had hysterectomies 3 weeks apart. Different hospitals. I came home with a binder, she did not.

I actually came out of surgery with one on. I wore it until the staples came out. I didn't like wearing it after that.
