5 Months post op & endo pain is back

I have had pain with my cycles as long as I can remember. My gyno told me to see my GP (he thought was GI) and my GP told me to go back to my gyno. In November 2007, I went to the ER with horrid pain. The Ct showd my appendix was enlarged. They took me to surgery. It turns out, my appendix was 'going bad' from the outside in due to the endo. During the appendectomy, the endo was so bad. I was back under the knife a day later for a full hysterectomy. I had so many complications, including a bleed that required a blood transfusion.

The pain has started again. After everything I have gone thru, it has started again. It is now unbarable. I am trying to get in to see my doc, but she is weeks out in appointments. I do not know what to do.

I want to cry and have. I feel so alone in this.

I am sorry you have had a rough experience! I had surgical complications with my hysterectomy that included a blood transfusion as well.

Is your doctor an endometriosis specialist? If not, you might want to gather up your records and see if you can consult with one. If you do a web search for EndoDocs you should turn up some names of doctors all over the nation who have successfully treated women with endometriosis.

I would suggest that you keep a journal detailing all of the symptoms you are experiencing. You can then share this information with your doctor(s) and it could help them "see" what might be going on. Be as detailed as you can such as is the pain stabbing, pulling, throbbing, pulsating, etc. This can help your doctor decide if the pain is endo or maybe adhesions or if there is something else going on.

I hope you are able to make an appointment soon! If you can't see your GYN, try to see your GP (or vice versa). If necessary, visit an urgent care facility or an ER where your pain can be assessed and hopefully addressed.

Sending s your way!

Please don't feel alone. There are so many of us here that are feeling the same way as you. I also had a hysterectomy in November and have been battling with unbearable pain for months. I was so frustrated when the pain started coming back 6 weeks after the hysterectomy. I waited until 4 months' postop and then figured enough was enough. My doctor has been trying different things over the last couple of months hoping something might work for the pain other than another surgery, but it looks like #3 for the year is inevitable. The best guess at this point is that it is adhesions or endo or both. I know they found endo implants at the time of my hysterectomy, and the endo wasn't there 6 months before that when he did a laparoscopy. I am going back to the doctor this week to give my decision on whether to proceed with laparoscopy.

I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I know it makes you want to cry, believe me, I'm crying right along with you. I hope that you can see your doctor soon. Hang in there and feel free to post any time you need another shoulder to cry on.

I called again and though they are still not able to get me in before 5/22 to see the doc, they gave me an order for an ultrasound. I will have that on Thursday.

Though at this point, I am being treated like an annoyance rather than a patient.

This is the thrid gyno I have been to. I think it is time to find another.

Thank you for listening- or reading rather. I take some comfort in knowing that I am not alone.

I'm sorry that you are having problems getting your doctor (office?) to listen. You should not be treated as an annoyance! I was very worried about my doctor and his staff thinking that about me, which is why I waited so long before I called. In my case, however, it was all in my mind. My doctor has every reason to think of me as an annoyance because I have been back "bugging" him twice now within 4 months of him performing a surgery on me. Every 6 months for the last year, he has ended up doing another surgery. He has been nothing but nice, however, and has always taken my complaints very seriously. Maybe because he knows all too well what a mess it is inside my pelvis. I'm really sorry you have gone through 3 GYN docs and haven't found a good one. I went through a number of docs too before I found the "right" one, so I know how frustrating it can be.

I hope that the ultrasound will give you some answers and that perhaps your doctor will be able to understand why you are in pain and will start to listen to you. You deserve to be heard!

Where do you have endometriosis now that is causing you such pain?

And after the hyst did you start taking HRT?

I have had endo for 10 years and have my hyst a week ago. I'm really hoping that this helps me but am so worried that it wont'. I was wondering about the two above questions.

The Endo had taken over my pelvic floor and attached itself to some organs. My doc tried to save one ovary to avoid HRT, but advised me she could not. After the surgery, my lower right side began to hurt again. I was told this was normal as this was the area heavy with the endo that she removed. The pain never really went away, though it did lessen. However, it has began getting worse. It will radiate into my upper legs, lower back.

I was told I had the worst case my doc had seen, she was suprised I was able to concieve my youngest. I am just thankful for that :-)

I am thankful I work from home. Makes it a bit easier to cope.

I'm sorry to hear about your pain. It is nice to actually have someone here tell you that they truly know what you're most likely going through. I hope that you can find some relief somehow and get somewhere with your gyno SOON!!

Have you thought about Physical therapy? You may have some adhesions from surgery...just another option to try.

Hope you find some pain free moments soon...

I agree you need to find a doc you feel comfortable with and dose not make you feel crazy! I have had enfo for over 15 years and have been afraid of exactly what you are talking about, the pain after the hysto. I am sorry you are dealing with this, hopefully you can find the right doc to help you!!
