Early menopause 2 years on?
I had a hysterectomy (leaving both ovaries entact) 2 years ago and have never had any problems. However recently have had hot flushes and experienced 'period pains' in my back. Had these symptoms a few months ago (certainly hot flushes) but brushed them off (or tried to ignore them). Could this be the start of the menopause? I have had contradictory opinions on this as some say that my ovaries will continue to produce hormones until normal menopause time (I am 29 now), and others say that my ovaries will shut down as they realise they are not needed.

There is maybe a 50% chance that ovaries fail or start to peeter out after a hyst . If you are starting to feel uncomfortable and cannot manage your symptoms on your own, then you will want to see your doctor. He can run tests and advise you on what is the best thing to do for your particular case.
You may have highs and lows with hormones causing symptoms to come and go for months or years sometimes. Maybe try some of the over the counter menopausal supplements to see if they help some. Progesterone cream worked for me when I had ovaries and was starting the change.
Dr. John Lee's book on "Hormone Balance Made Simple" would be something to look at. He also has books on pre-menopause and menopause. His books are very helpful.

Early menopause 2 years on?
Your doctor can order a test that will show if you're in menopause. I had a partial hyster back in Sept - within a month I was having severe hot flashes, not sleeping at night, etc. Got to the point I would sit and cry - I was sooo tired and so hot!
Finally said something to my ob/gyn and she ordered the blood test. Sure enough, I'm menopausal!
I chose to use a product from a nutritional/network marketing company instead of Hormones. All I can say is "I feel like a new woman!!!!!"
So, talk with your doctor and get the blood test then you'll know for sure!
Best of luck to you!

Early menopause 2 years on?
My symptoms started one year after my surgery. The hot flashes were terrible. After I had a crying spell in my Gyn's office, she said that it was time for me to start some type of treatment. I couldn't understand because I still have my ovaries, but she explained how their functioning decreases. So, now I'm using Divigel. Like my Gyn said - we have too many options instead of feeling like we have to suffer. Good luck!!

Early menopause 2 years on?
Nearly 3 years for me and sometimes I just feel like crap. Like something is just missing. Although blood tests haven't indicated perimenopause I'm having the vaginal dryness and I suspect other things are connected to it, too.

Early menopause 2 years on?
I had a hysterectomy at age 27, kept ovaries. I went through natural menopause at age 47, ten years ago. Obviously, my ovaries continued to function for 20 years after, and I did not have hot flashes, but my hormone balance and body changed noticeably after the hysterectomy in ways that I do not understand. Some good, some bad. I feel the uterus and ovaries secrete hormones or other factors as yet unknown, even after menopause. Something was lost with the uterus.
I have known women whose ovaries seemed to fail not long after a hysterectomy or tubal ligation. I don't know why this happens to some but not to others. Get your FSH level checked. If your body does not balance itself out, I would ask the doctor about trying low-dose HRT to see if the ovaries would jump-start themselves before going full HRT. Good luck. You don't have to suffer.
