booked for MRI scan and scared!!

aarrgghhh i am 9 wks post-op from TVH and A&P repairs....had an appointment with a General Med specialist yesterday..(It was scheduled via the GP before my surgery) as the GP didn`t think i needed a Gyn.
anyhow i explained my months of pain in my tailbone/sacral area..my surgery story....and he is not convinced it was the rectocele causing the pain seems i`m still having pain/discomfort and bowel issues.....
i am scared now and freaking out!!!!!!!!!!
I will be booked for a MRI in about 2 weeks time........anyone got any suggestions for me to chill out?? or similiar stories to make me relax alittle......2 wks is such a long time when ya constantly thinking the worse....my lastest thought is a tumor on my sacrum......OMG i am in panic mode and not really thinking straight.......help......

Ali--

I am sorry you are still having pain. You've probably already researched or googled "lower back pain" or "sacral pain". And as you probably already know, there can be soooo many causes. You truly never know.

As for the MRI, I've had several of them and I've never had a problem with them myself. Sometimes an MRI can show something, and sometimes they can't. Yours may end up showing precisely nothing so it's truly nothing to get too nervous about. I try to look at them philosophically--if I'm meant to find out something, I will. If not, then I won't. I know not everyone can look at it that way, but it works for me. With all the medical tests and surgeries I've had, I've had to figure out a way to deal and that's what I've come up with.

I truly hope you can relax and realize that your doctors are trying to find what 'ails' you. Also, I don't know what your religious beliefs are, but for me it's much easier to 'Let go and let God'. I have to realize that I can only control so much and the rest is out of my hands (thank goodness, you know?).

Sending many ++ thoughts, extra good vibes......and a to you....
