I Am Confused And Scared

I need opinions,i had a hysterectomy in aug of 07 they took my cervix, uterus and one ovary and tube. yesterday they took my other ovary and tube because of the severity of my endometriosis. also due to my endo they want me to go through menopause for 6 months free of hormones because the hormones feed the endo. since i do not want anymore surgeries i do what they suggest, but i know without my premarin, my body is a messssssssssssss. is there anything out there hormone free that could help me with hot flashes and meopause? please take a minute to give me any advice, i would appreciate it sooooooo much!!!!!

I Am Confused And Scared

Hi! I'm in the same boat, and my doctor suggested black cohosh for me (as long it was without estrogens). Good luck and keep us updated!

I Am Confused And Scared

I was in the same boat back in 1999 with a hysterectomy because of endometrosis. I toughed it out for years before starting hrt. I can tell you it does get better.

Some things that may help are consuming some soy products (tofu, soy milk, soy nuts, or tempeh). I found that with soy milk , I needed to drink 2-3 glasses daily as it contains less isoflavones than tofu. You may still get hot flashes but I found they less intense and less in frequency. Taking vitamin E capsules may also help-at least 400 i.u. a day can help moderate hot flashes. Watch using black cohosh for now if you are trying to dry up any remaining endometriosis. It has some estrogenic-like properties.
