Me too!!

Hi! Trust me you are not alone. I too have a prolapsed uterus. Im not sure what you need to know, but if you can feel the thing, then it is far enough down where you will probably need it taken out. Are you through having children? I am 36 and have had it for a number of years but now it is farther down and have fibroids with it and I already have 3 children, so Im ready to have it out. lol Are you having lots of pain with it? It would probably be wise just to have it out, but I dont know all the circumstances with you. Talk with your doctor and hubby and see what they think. Please let us know what you find out. We are all here to help with whatever we can!

Dear Dawn,

Here is a website that addresses vaginal prolapse:
http://www.urogynecologychannel.com/prolapse5.shtml

I hope you are able to find a specialist to make the necessary repairs.

Sending HUGE cyberhugs

vaginal prolapse

hi dawn,
i'm a veteran of prolapses of all sorts so i know how uncomfortable they can be. it seems no one really talks about them out in the real world, but they are very common. in fact, i think lots of ladies have them but aren't aware of it!
don't be afraid or embarrassed to see your doc about it. in my opnion, it would be wise to see a urogynecologist. they specialize in pelvic floor problems and are more up on things than regular gyns.
there are different types of surgical repair for different prolapses, and other non-surgical options like pessaries, too. your doc can advise you.
for lots of info go to http://www.pelvicfloor.com
dr murphy even has pictures of the darn things! there is a message board there as well, and he will answer your questions.

good luck to you.

vaginal prolapse

hi dawny.
yep, 'bad' things can happen after hyst...happy though that prolapses are not the worst.
i prolapsed 10 weeks after my hyst, had repair done and then prolapsed again 7 weeks later. so i know how devastating it can be when you think you are on the road to recovery and then have a setback.
prolapses just happen...a freakoid glitch in the way we are put together. so don't be afraid to have your doc check yours out. ask if he can refer you to a urogynecologist or someone who specializes in pelvic floor reconstruction. regular gyns tend to do vaginal repair of prolapse, and sometimes that doesn't hold up as well as more aggressive surgery- but it does work for some ladies. i just think it's wiser to see the real expert first, before you subject yourself to another surgery, if surgery is what you need.
my gyn did my first repair, and now i'm seeing a urogyn. he doesn't want to surgerize me again so soon, so i'm living with it til next year. don't feel alone...there are lots of us in the same situation. for a support/message board, go to askjeeves.com then type in 'uterine prolapse' in the search box. then click on the first site that comes up on the results screen. i think it's venus.beseen. com.

now go put your feet up

vaginal prolapse

dawny, good luck with your specialist. don't be intimidated, though. he's just a guy that's been to college and knows about womens plumbing. if he gives you grief about your condition, ask him how he'd feel if HIS bladder and/or rectum decided to move to his scrotum!
kegels etc won't cure prolapse, but they can help with some of the symptoms. at any rate you should do them to help insure that after repair, you'll be as strong as possible to help prevent recurrent prolapse. pessaries can ease the pressure/pain until you have repairs done.
best of luck to you.
