Hair Still Falling Out

HI ALL,
I HAD A TAH/BSO ON APRIL 9TH, 2001, I AM TOTALLY FEELING GREAT NOW, BUT I HAV HAD THE PROBLEM OF MY HAIR FALLING OUT SINCE MY SURGERY, IT HAS ONLY GOT WORSE, I HAVE BEEN ON THE CLIMARA PATCH SINCE POST OP, I THOUGHT MAYBE THAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM, I CALLED MY DR LAST WEEK, SHE PUT ME ON PREMERIN STARTING TODAY, I HOPE IT SOLVES MY PROBLEM.
HAS ANYONE EXPIERIENCED THE HAIR LOSS FOR THIS LONG AFTER SURGERY?

ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE BEEN HAVING IS CRONIC YEAST INFECTIONS, I HAD THEM FROM TIME TO TIME BEFORE THE SURGERY, BUT THIS IS GETTING TO BE TOO MUCH, I HAVE HAD 3 OUTBREAKS IN 1 MONTH, I AM GOING TO CALL MY DR. NEXT WEEK IF IT KEEPS UP, I HAVE BEEN USING THE 1 DOSE ORAL DIFLUCAN, IT WORKS RIGHT AWAY, BUT THEN I GET ANOTHER INFECTION WITHIN A WEEK OR SO, IT IS REALLY GETTING ANOYING, NOT TO MENTION UNCOMPFORTABLE, ESPECIALLY AT WORK. HAVE ANY LADIES OUT THERE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU DID ABOUT IT, THANKS

LORI

Hair Still Falling Out

Lori I was just wondering if you take your pill everyday? I know when my hormone levels fluctuated before hyst I would get a yeast infection right away. It seemed as if I always had a yeast infection. I believe I have also seen on here that to levels high in estrogen can cause yeast infections. If your getting a yeast infection on a weekly basis then I would wonder if it is even getting cleared up to begin with. Are you and hubby having relations while you are being treated? The likelyhood of you passing it back and forth are unlikely but it is possible. I would ask doc if this is a possibility and also whether or not the diflucan may not be clearing the infection completely. Just an

Hair Still Falling Out

Lori,
I don't know anything about the yeast infections but I did have major hair problems post op. The hair falling out could be a sign of several things, one being a symptom of the surgery itself. My hairdresser told me that the antibotics and anethesia all come out thru the scalp. Two, it could be a sign of a thyroid problem. Three it could be a sign of a hormonal imbalance.

As I said I struggled post op with my hair and here's the things I did:
1. I started taking evening primrose oil and fish oil. You can read more about EPO here www.hormonejungle.com/primrose.php

2. I started using a vitamin enriched shampoo and conditioner and deep condition once a week.

3. I got a trim every 3-4 weeks to get rid of the bad hair.

After about 6 months my hair did return to its former glory.

I do suggest that you talk to your doctor. As hair falling out can be signs of other things and it is always best to be safe.
