May 12th Pre-op Angry

So, all my appts got moved around, my ekg is after my appt with the surgeon instead of before, so if there is a problem, I guess I will get hosed at the last minute. I was hoping to know everything when I saw her. Nope, when the phone rings on the next day, that could be the end.

I do have mvp and have read on this board about people getting their surgeries cancelled because of an abnormal EKG reading. If my surgery gets cancelled, I have several options. The progesterone I am taking is not working well anymore. I can stop it all together and have a major bleeding event (guaranteed) and emergency surgery. I can take a baseball bat into my doctors office, or shoot myself. I have been dealing with this pain for 9 months now, the pain has gotten worse since taking the progesterone, I can't sleep, I can't sit, I can't lay on my back and now it is affecting my walking. I just push through the pain, because I know the solution will arrive on the 15th. OTCs pain meds don't work, even in large doses. I was in the hospital last fall and got two units of blood, there are no other options. I can't take the progesterone anymore. I feel nauseous every day. This stuff is turning on me, and it feels like my rotting giant uterus is poisoning me.

Of course I am going to discuss this with my surgeon that day.

If these stupid tests are so important why do they wait until the last minute to do them????? If my surgery is cancelled on the 12th, 13th or 14th, the progesterone stops immediately. My S/O has instructions to deliver me to the emergency room at that point. I will be bleeding profusely and will be vomiting and crapping myself because of the severe cramping. Girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. Nice picture. Regardless, this life long nightmare ends on the 15th.

I have also lost another pcp, this has been a constant problem in my life. I don't have a cardiologist anymore, don't want one. When this is done, I am dropping off the medical radar. I have had 40 years of bad experiences with the medical community. My horrific experience with my last gyno soured me for life.

Another problem may be the nature of these boards. There must be people out there with the same exact results, same life style etc., who don't get their surgery cancelled? Is this just a case of getting upset because people who had thier surgery cancellled have posed incomplete information?

One more thing. I am going to be 51 in a couple months, can we at least assume I am perimenopausal???? I have heard that irregular heartbeats come with that territory, if that shows up on the ekg, then what is the big deal? Oh brother, now I am posting to myself.

The EKG they read right there, blood tests are done in like 30 mins. Has your doctor ordered a CBC before? those tests show so many things, maybe they are thinking your in good health other than your girl problems. I had a liver issue so they did a test that had to be done 7 days before my surgery. but all in all everything went well. I understand the frustration with the medical field!! You want RIGHT NOW, and there pokey...close your eyes, breathe deep and clear your mind. We are here to listen

Have a GREAT day!

I don't have any answers for you but just wanted you to know we are listening and you are not talking to yourself. Please make sure your dr understands all your concerns so that your surgery does not end up getting cancelled. And ask your dr if he can do an EKG right in the office and have immediate results. Sending you lots of hugs.

I have, in several posts (although not here) talked aloud to myself in post after post and sometimes, even if didn't get answered, I felt better. At least this way, I know there is a possiblity that someone, somewhere is listening to me vent....lol.

Sorry you are hving so much pain. I wish you all the best and will be praying for you that your hyster don't get cancelled.

I just wanted to reply and tell you that I kind of had the same thought yesterday when I had my labs done. I wondered why they waited so long to do them. I have WPW, which is a heart condition I was born with. It's never caused me any great problems but I hope that it doesn't cause my surgery to be cancelled. I am scheduled for a LAVH on Wednesday May 14th. Nervous as can be but excited to be rid of this pain finally!!! Anyhow, good luck and think positive!
