Will I need a complete hysterectomy?

You probably don't need a hysterectomy at all since most hysterectomies are not needed. Do your research and do not trust what the doctors tell you. Most don't really care about you, only their bank accounts. There other ways to deal with ovarian problems than a hysterectomy.

Will I need a complete hysterectomy?

Hello! to Hyster Sisters!

You've come to a wonderful place to ask questions and get support from women who have lots of experiences to share. I'm glad you found us!

How did your appointment go yesterday? What has your doctor suggested as the next step? It's a good idea to get at least one more medical opinion and it's also good to research and be aware of any possible options to surgery. We aren't pro- or anti-hysterectomy on this site but rather promote that each Sister research carefully, know the options, weigh the risks and benefits and make an informed decision. We'll share our stories, both good and bad, which you can factor into your decision.

I hope you'll let us know about your appointment. We look forward to helping you with questions or concerns you have.

I am also 41 and had a large ovarian cyst and stage 4 endo, I lost the ovary due to the endo and scarring, but sometimes they can remove the cyst only. A hysterectomy will not cure endo, your best bet is to find a reproductive endocronologist (endo specialist) who is skilled at removing endo implants, a hyster is not a recommended surgery for endo where I live as it can result in worse problems then you started with, there are other options and it should be a last resort. Don't do anything that you are not comfortable with.

Will I need a complete hysterectomy?

I went to my appointment yesterday and was not happywith the Dr. so I'm going to get a second opinion. She has "nothing to be concerned about" but she wanted me to go for another pelvic sonogram. She told me that the cyst would go away on it's own, but I don't see how when I am on the Depo shot and I don't have my menstrual period.

Will I need a complete hysterectomy?

Well, a lot of ovarian cysts do go away, they are hormonal and cyclical. I type pelvic US reports every day and if there's concern for a cyst on an ovary, they usually schedule a followup US in 2-3 cycles. As far as your endometrial stripe, everyone that has a uterus has an endometrium.. thickness also depending on your cycle. since you didn't like your GYN, it's good to make a 2nd opinion appt. you definitely want to like your physician. hope this helps and good luck!
