Back from NP and the next step is...

Ok, back from NP, and she is going to sent me to OB/GYN, again. This is one (OB/GYN) I've never been to, again. Anyway hopefully I'll hear something from him by the end of the week about an appointment. I told her that I had gone for my pap and abnormal cells had shown up, she got the report out and said repeat in 6 months. I told her that I had had a hyster in June for reoccuring dyplasia. She said June of when? June of '07 I told her. So anyway, she's going to write a letter and give him the option of seeing me now or waiting the 6 months. She THINKS he will want to see me now, hopefully he does. If not I still have other options of going to other NP and getting her to send me somewhere else. So now I have a couple questions. I haven't done much research on this yet, figured the best place to go to get answers was here. So how do they clear this up now(abnormal cells and possible granulation), with no cervix. Do they still laser the cuff, can do the cold cone, what?? And, if they do anything, does it hurt and/or do they put you to sleep to do it? Thanks for input.

Wish I could help but I have endometrial cancer and for the life of me I am having a really hard time understanding the processes of CC.

There are many ladies here with this type of cancer and I am sure they will be along to help you.

Wishing you the best,
Juanita

I had a conization in 89 for CIN III. That was supposed to take care of the situation and did for many many years, until Nov. of last year. When my pap came back as HGSIL. They thought it was my cervix again, but THINK AGAIN! My cervix IS COMPLETEY HEALTHY! Instead I had vaginal cancer. It is believed that the cone did not get all of the area and that is why I developed vaginal cancer almost 20 yrs later ( I am only turning 39 this year! So statistically, I am too young to have squamous carcinoma of the vagina.)

But to answer your question, you can still have the abnormal cells normally on the cervix be found on the vagina even without the cervix. I don't think they can do a conization of the vagina. They will use laser, surgically cut it out. But that all depends on what the situation is for that patient. I don't know if they put you to sleep for the laser (OUCH! I would want to be asleep!). I had chemo/radiation myself.

Thanks for the input. Don't know if they have laser at the hospital I'm going to, I'll find out when I get my appointment. Had laser in 2002,at another hospital, they put me out, when I woke up it was done. There was nothing to it!! Good to know though. Hopefully I'll hear something next week about an appointment. I'll keep you all posted when I know something. Thanks again.

Back from NP and the next step is...

Hi,

Last year, I had laser surgery for carcinoma in situ on my cervical cuff (hysterectomy in 2002.) Mine was done at a surgery center, and they did put me to sleep. Afterward, I had no pain and no bleeding. In fact, I'd almost never know that I'd had surgery if the anesthesia hadn't made me sick.

Good luck with everything.

s,

Lisa
