Gas Pains Please Help

Someone please help. I am into my 2nd week. I had the abdominal hysterectomy. For the last 2 days I have had gas pains so bad that I'm literally screaming. Yesterday my bowel was more solid but today it's like water. I'm in such pain. Someone please help I have not eaten anything spicy or such. Mostly soup and baked potatos

Gas Pains Please Help

Get some Gas X. It was my best friend for the first couple of weeks.

Try to walk a little bit each day, too. It takes awhile, although the first few weeks are the worst. I still have horrible pain bowel wise, and my dr said it takes awhile for this all to work itself out.

Gas Pains Please Help

Do you have it in your abdomen mostly, or in your shoulders?
The first two weeks I thought I'd pass out from the gas up in my shoulders. When I would move, I could just feel this ENORMOUS bubble settling in painful places (at one point under my collarbone!) - its awful....but eventually goes away on its own. The gas-x is a wonderful thing for the digestive gas, but won't do much for the "body cavity" kind. If you're like me and everyone warned you about gas pain, you probably thought "gas? ahhhh...thats nothing, I can deal with it"....but it is a booger!

No pain at all in the shoulders. Everything was perfect until this started yesterday. I can't believe the pain that I am in. I feel it's all in the rectum. Once I sit, the pain just gets overwelming.

only things that I could add to the above are:

maybe some stool softener ...
and try eating more veggies for ruffage.... ie lettuce, carrots.
I also found that drinking Ensure meal replacement shakes made a difference as well. The provide the nutrients without the 'bulk' for digestion.

Lots of water and as much walking as you can manage. And prunes! The gas was worse than the pain from my incisions.
