any suggestions for OTC hormone replacement?

I have been totally against HRT but due to major mood changes I am rethinking my stance on them. I can't get in to see my doc until June 6th and need something NOW. I am looking for suggestions for what works well and what doesn't. I can't spend a lot, but know they are going to be pricey. Any and all suggestions will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Sara!

Is there any chance your doctor could call in a hormone prescription for you? There are plenty of options and if you pick something generic that is on many pharmacy $4 prescription programs, you can save a lot. One that is popular with some members is the generic for Estrace, which is a bio-identical estradiol pill. There are, of course, lots of options to consider which you can read about in this link: Hormone Jungle Articles.

Hopefully someone will be along with ideas for over-the-counter products to try.

Hi Sara .... I was right where you are a few weeks ago. I tried a herbal product called "Swiss Natural HRT" which is mainly a high dose of black cohosh with a number of other herbal 'goodies' in it. I believe it helped but it really was not enough relief on a long term basis. Everyone is different and this might work better for you. It certainly helped me to some extent and it might be worth a try if you can't get a prescription sooner. Hope you get something that works soon.

I strongly suggest you do your homework before you go for years on an HRT that you wished you hadn't. That's what happened to me. I was on Premarin for 9 years. Actually, it worked. However, I learned too late how it's made and the animal abuse involved. I also believe it contributed to my short-term memory loss and hair loss, although everyone tells me those are due to age! lol I've been on Vivelle-dot (a patch) and so far so good.
