bowel function after ovaries removed

Hi, It's been a long time. I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago, they left the ovaries behind. Monday i had the ovaries removed, they had 9cm cysts. Anyhow, they called in a bowel surgeon as these ovaries/cysts were wrapped around the bowel. Also lost the appendix. Since the surgery, came home thursday, i do not seem to have bowel control. I get major gas going thru and then an 'explosion'. Im afraid to stray too far from the bathroom. Has anyone else experienced this? How long will it last?

Your bowel issues will probably resolve within a couple of weeks, the bowel tend to go into shock when they are bothered with and take a while to settle back into place, you may suffer constipation and loose bowels for a bit while they calm down. Try eating lightly, smaller meals, more frequently, gentle foods, water, fiber. Take care and have a speedy recovery.
