Difficult recovery - 3 weeks post-op
Had my surgery April 30, It started out laparoscope then about an hour and a half into my surgery they had to cut me. I had to have my bladder repaired because it was matted to my uterus. I had alot of adhesion because of 3 c-section. I had alot going on on the inside, stayed in the hospital for four day, two days on the pain pump, and nause med. Had to come home with the pee bad for 12 days, it has been very hard. I go back to the Dr. tomorrow for another visit, he told me I would have a long recovery. I'm on day 22 still on pain med. still can't walk all that good. Getting very aggravated at this whole situation. Forgot to mention only had my uterus taken out. My Dr. told me it was the worst surgery he has ever done. I was in surgery for 5 hours, afterwards I had trouble with my blood pressure dropping, I had to have ct scans, blood work, and a cystogram (which hurt very bad). Tomorrow he has to do a pelvic exam not looking forward to that because I still hurt and some blood work for my kidneys. This is all very hard on me because I am a very active mom, I homeschool my kids and have a 2 year old running around. My husband has been great he doesn't want me doing anything. My two oldest kids help out alop 13 and 8. Did anyone ever need Meds. this long or hurt this bad. I don't have any idea when it will get better. I can't sleep because I have to pee all night long and when I get up it hurts so much to walk. Can anyone give me any advice. Just looking for the day I get better. Talk Later.

Hi anissa and
We're happy to have you as a member of the Hystersisters community. It sounds like you had extensive surgical work done and have experienced some "bumps along the road" so far in your recovery, and that's a shame. Even in the best of circumstances, a hysterectomy and in particular an abdominal surgery is very traumatic to body. I remember feeling that I had been "run over by a freight train" for quite a while after my surgery five years ago.
Please come back and update us tomorrow after you get back from your medical appointment, to let us know what your doctor said.
I'm sending many s your way,

Hey everyone, I was doing good two days ago walking around feeling pretty good. Then all of a sudden I got up yesterday morning and feeling like I did last week. Does it do this do you feel good one day and not the next. I had some dizziness but I have a inner ear infection. I feel like I'm going to lose my mind I get down in the dumps because I just want so bad to feel better. I'm getting stinging pains around my cuts. I go to the Dr. Tues. Just can't wait to feel myself. God Bless everyone

Difficult recovery - 3 weeks post-op
Hi, I forgot where I read this but here goes. You'll take one step forward two steps back for awhile. I had my surgery April 30. I still have "bad" days. It seems when I'm up and walking on my feet alot. It takes me two days to b able to feel like I have any energy. You've had alot done. Take it easy on yourself. Listen to your body, if you need to rest, then rest, don't do anything to soon. It sounds like you have agreat family let them do for you. I was in surgery for 4 hrs. I can't stay awake for a whole day. I to am a very active person. I want to heal right the first time. So I'm listening to my body and my Dr. Everyone is different......... Gods with you.......AnnMarie

Difficult recovery - 3 weeks post-op
Hey everyone I went to the Dr. tues and everything is healing fine. I now 4 weeks post-op and he told me it will take about 3 months to feel normal again. I'm really hope so because I homeschool and we will start back in Aug. But I want so bad to start working in our room and getting stuff put up and thing put together for Aug. I had a bad day yesterday because when I went to the Dr. he had to check me at the bottom so it caused some discomfort afterwards. I still feel like I have no energy, really scared to do to much because I'm afraid to hurt. I go back to the dr. june 10. Talk later hope everyone is doing fine and recovering. God Bless

Difficult recovery - 3 weeks post-op
anissa,
I am right here with you. I had my surgery about a week after yours and still feel like I'm being daily run over by a freight train. I also homeschool and have four under 7 at home (my oldest two are grown and on their own and my youngest is almost 5 months).
My surgery took over 8 hours and I'm still having complications with my bladder. I'm tired of not being able to get beyond the complications and feel like I am truly recovering. I also went to my doc on Tuesday and had a bit rougher days since then because of the travel and the exam.
But, I'm praying that it gets better soon... and taking things one moment at a time when they are at their roughest. And, truly each day is getting a bit better. It's just hard to see when you have to allow everyone else to do your job and just watch and feel miserable.
It DOES get better. I have to believe this and so do you. Just take things one moment at a time and look at all the things you have to be thankful for.
Can anyone bring you the homeschool supplies - one item at a time - so that you could do some planning while you are resting? That's what I am doing this coming week.
Godspeed... ~ Tiffani

Difficult recovery - 3 weeks post-op
Hi! It sounds to me like you're right on track for recovery.
I remember not being able to stand up straight until about 5 weeks post-op. The nurses at the clinic called it "the hysterectomy shuffle" and we really all did look the same, trying to get up and down the halls.
My doctor explained to me that as long as I could say I was feeling generally better than I did a week before, I was making progress. I had some days that were pretty good, others that were only OK, and other days where I felt like I was back in the hospital! But all were normal parts of my recovery.
Hope this helps and I hope you are feeling better very soon.
