Does anyone know the estimate of a normal size uterus in grams? I want to know this, so I will have an idea of what to compare it to when I get mine removed, and the pathology comes back...Thanks Ladies...You've all been so wonderful with your vast amount of info & knowledge.
My doctor told me the average weight is between 60 and 120 grams. I asked for a copy of my pathology report and compared my insides with what was normal. I went into ask.com and put in my questions. It then brought me to all different medical sites and I was able to find out the normal values.
A friend of mine had a hyst not too long ago. She said she only lost a total of 3 lbs. Some was the uterus, some the cervix, and some the 1/2 unit of blood she lost during her surgery, which was a simple vaginal (kept ovaries). I wouldn't think the uterus *itself weighs that much. A couple grams, at most. Then you tuck into there all the stuff we deal with like the endometrial lilning, polyps, fibroids, blood, tumors, etc.... I expect it can weigh more than a few grams with all those.
My uterus weighed almost a pound! Full of those nasty fibroids!
I haven't really lost any weight so far, but that comes with not being able to exercise yet. The nice part of this is that I haven't gained any either!
