Hi Ladies,
I will be having a Hysterectomy in July for a fibroid removal. In addition to the anxiety and fatigue, I am experiencing prolonged PMS symptoms. I have about 3 days a month where I feel "normal." Otherwise I am grouchy and irritable, and struggle for joy. Has anyone experienced this as a result of fibroids and related hormones?

Hi DGD, Welcome to HS. Having my surgery on 6/24. Having the same symptoms as you. My DH and kids say I am not very easy to live with at the moment. I also have alot of pressure and crampy just about every day. I really want this surgery but I am having alot of anxiety about what the recovery will be like. Mainly worried about how my DH and kids will manage while I am recovering. Good luck with your surgery. Looking forward to reading how you are doing post-op.

i had a huge uterus size 20 to 22 weeks. I had fibroids. I also had a bad ovary. My left ovary migrated to the right side with a cyst cause it was so jam packed in there and im a small person...4 foot 11 100 pounds.
I was crampy and sore daily. My legs and low back would hurt, i bled heavy, had severe monthly pain with my periods, and anemia. I slept with a heating pad nightly. I even had some burns on my stomach from it. I had a TAH almost a month ago and had a vertical incision. Those crazy cramps are gone. I had my period the day of surgery too. Im spot bleeding now..but doc is watching it. I have one ovary left. Recovery has been slow but steady. I took no pain meds after surgery due to acid reflux problems.
You might wanna ask your doctor about the On Q pain ball. My doc used it in my incision and it helped numb it when i was in thre hospital. The web site is askyoursurgeon.com

Hi DGD and Debbie,
I am so happy to tell you that I am nine days post surgery! I FEEL AWESOME!!!!
I had an amazing amount of anxiety before and was not a nice person to be around most of the time. Even thought of cancelling the whole thing.
I am still amazed at how well I feel now. I had three fibroids, one the size of a football, the others a bit smaller. One of the biggest changes I notice is that I have nice flat stomach now. It is amazing. I feel a million percent better already!
The day of surgery (Thursday) was pretty much a blurr, second day I was a little sick from the Dilauded pain pump. That was not fun. Third day they switched me to Percocet and I was pacing the hospital wanting to go home. Released on Sunday.
One BIG word of advice is take it easy when you get home. We had some stuff going on here yesterday and I tried to help out my hubby with moving a few things. Nothing big, just emptying some cabinets. I can feel it today, so I am taking it easy. Back in the recliner.
I hope both of you have the same experience I had. I think if you are positive and think about all of the great things that will come after the surgery it helps you get through it. I know the thought of surgery risks and recovery are not easy to put in the back of your mind, but try.
I was in your shoes not too long ago and now the thought of being able to go on vacation without counting days on a calendar or wearing white pants are what I think of now!
Wishing both of you luck and a speedy recovery! Sheri

cranky one
Being new here I was happy to find others going through the same things. I am constantly uncomfortable, at 55 I had extermely heavy bleeding for over a month. After a D&C spotting but severe cramps and back ache. Schedule for TVH in July, if my family doesn't force me to go earlier
