Hurting So Much Right Now (kids mentioned)

I have 2 boys, 3.5 yrs and 18 months. They are both very full of spunk and being home with them has been a challenge. I am 5 weeks post op and today they both just tackeled me.

I am just in a world of pain right now. I might as well be back at the hospital hooked up to the morphine pump.
I hurt sooooo much. They both hit me in the stomach and my boys aren't small. I'm not bleeding or anything, I just hurt like crazy!

My mom is staying with us to help out and she got all honkerblonked because she had to watch them while I went into the room to go cry. And gee, I'm not in the best mood because I hurt like hell, so my husband is yelling at me... Gee cuz that makes sense! I'm on the bed, curled up and crying and he says from across the room (mind you, he didn't do jack when I got hurt or while I have been crying for an hour except internet surf) "Just go to bed". I have been having mad insomnia for the past 2 weeks. So the simple solution of yeah just lying down and going to sleep doesn't exist. I respond with "yeah, because I can go to sleep so easily" and of course he starts yelling.

Why can't people just understand???

Hello Shade19:

I'm sorry you are having such a rough time. You may want to explain to your eldest son that Mommy just had surgery and it is still very painful. As far as your DH, they really don't understand the workings of us females and probably never will.

Remember, this too shall pass.

BIG s,

I'm so sorry for what you are going thru. I know how you feel my family doesn't seem to get it either. My kids are teenagers and my middle daughter is 16 and she doesn't get it I can't do much. She told me all you do is lay around, and don't do anything after I told her she had to do dishes or when ever I ask her to do anything, and I told her there is things I cant do alot of it yet, and I was hurting on top of it, and I told her that and she what do you want me to feel sorry for you. After she said that I started to cry. My husband was great at first helping out with everything and he still does, but he doesn't get the emotional what it is doing to me. When ever I snap or yell im such a *****. He sees me crying and he doesn't do anything or even ask me whats wrong, or comfort me when I need it the most.

shade19, I sympathize with you hon.. having 2 boys hit your belly, must be extremely painful please, try to tell them over and over (because since they are small boys they forget) that your belly hurts and not to touch....say this over and over thru out the day.....

about men, they are so INSENSITIVE they get frustrated, scared and dont know how to react and then they react by being insensitives!! go figure

be strong, and defend your body and mind....do what you have to do to get better and feel better, and the rest just take one moment at a time....this will pass and everything will get better, but you only have one chance to heal...make it a good one hon...for yourself

Have you called your doctor? S/he might want to see you to make sure no damage was done internally. Pain that will send you to bed in tears needs to be addressed. If you haven't called your doctor yet, you might want to do that today. I hope you feel better soon.

I can't imagine going through this with small children at home. My youngest is 18 and he tries to jab me in play. I flinch back -- he usually doesn't even touch me and it hurts just from trying to move out of his way. I agree that you need to remind your little ones often about your tummy pain. They really don't understand. That doesn't help you feel better now but I doubt they were trying to hurt you. (If they are anything like my youngest, and it sounds like they are, he could tackle me without blinking when he was 3. He thought he was playing... still doesn't really get it sometimes). good luck and hopefully your mom can stay for a while longer!

I'm so sorry you're going through all of this - it's so hard with kids and insensitive family members. I had my LSH May 6, and also have two boys at home (5 yrs. and 15 mos.). My 5-year-old is pretty good - but as you know, you can't really explain what you are going through to the baby. I don't know that there is much we can do other than rest as much as possible (which I know is not nearly as often as needed - I don't sleep either). My mom has been here off and on, and also gets all bent out of shape when I need to get away to my room (the only place I can really rest without the boys all over me). And the husbands - what can I say? They just don't get it. I think mine is trying to be helpful and caring, but I don't think they can even imagine the extent of what we are going through. I wish I had answers for you, but at least I can let you know that you are not alone. Many of us can really relate to what you are going through - so hang in there!
