Dinner the night before

Wondering what you ate or what you are eating for dinner the night before surgery? My pre op nurse said a 'light' meal. What is that?
Also I have to take a fleet enema, any idea what time I should do that at? I don't want to be awake all night on the toilet. (not that I am gonna get any sleep)
AAAAHHHHHHH I can't believe it's tomorrow. I feel like I have so much more to do to get ready!

That's exactly what's going through my head right now - my surgery is tomorrow too! I'm thinking shrimp and some risotto for dinner around 7pm. My doc recommends fleets enema - I think she said around 8pm. Uggghhh

I wasn't given any restrictions on what I can eat today, just don't gorge myself....lol...and no bowel prep.

I'm still thinking something light like chicken macaroni salad?

Dinner the night before

the day before my surgery, I had a nice lunch, and for dinner I had chicken broth and plenty of water, I had that around 6 pm and at 7:30 had the fleet enema. with the enema, just follow the directions on the box, and I "went" about 3 min. after for a total of 3times. there is a little cramping but nothing major, it really cleans you out.

praying for all you gals that are going tomorrow for a smooth surgery, for God to wrap His arms around you, and to bless all the nurses/doctors that are going to be taking care of you with a kind heart.

see you on the post op soon ladies

I had jello the night before.. I wasn't allowed regular food as I had to do a full bowel prep. (go-lytely)

Good luck to all.

No bowel prep for me!! My doctor said eat lite for both lunch and dinner. She suggested something like soup and salad. Hope this helps

This was discussed a few days ago and the responses were as varied as this thread. LOL!

I was not given any restrictions, not an enema..thankfully!

The night before my surgery I had made a fabulous tomato sauce with fresh tomatoes, garlic and basil. I had that over whole wheat pasta with fresh grated parmesan. Along with that, a salad with field greens and bleu cheese dressing. I am sure I had some type of dessert, but I cannot recall. LOL!

I had that around 9PM......I do not dine early. Then the rule....no food or drink after midnight.

I had one of my all-time favorite comfort foods -- mashed potatoes with some butter. I might have had a little chicken, but I can't remember.

I had no restrictions (other than no food or drink after midnight) and no bowel prep the day before surgery. However, I was feeling pretty anxious, so I went with something pretty bland and didn't eat very much.

Then again...there was that bowl of ice cream I ate at about 11:00 that night.

I would be terrified with no food restrictions and no bowel prep. The thought of my bowels not quite awake after surgery and having them "full" seems very painful to me.

That's what *I* was thinking. Even if my doctor doesn't tell me I need a bowel prep, I'm going to ask her what type she would recommend. I don't want that stuff sitting in there until my bowels wake up.
