Is white wine considered "clear liquid"?

I just drank my yummy magnesium citrate at 2:00. I am now on the clear liquid phase. I did a search for white wine but did not see an answer to the question-is it safe to drink white wine on the clear liquid phase?

It's five o'clock some where!!

Honestly I was told clear liguid is anything you can see through when held up to light. That includes Coke. But the alcohol in wine.... I don't know about that.

Yes, just like white grape juice, white wine is a clear liquid. But if I were you, I would check your written pre-op instructions from your medical provider, to be sure that alcohol consumption is not prohibited.

My pre-op instructins make no mention of alcohol, just the standard, jello, 7-up, clear broth....

Hi spinkydink!

To be on the safe side, you should stick to the clear liquids mentioned on your pre-op instructions. If you want to know if it's okay to drink alcohol, you really do need to check with your own doctor.

Best wishes for your surgery!

Spinkydink,
If you ask your doctor about the wine, let us know what he/she says. Now you have me wondering.

I live in the Bible Belt-don't think he would appreciate me calling on a Sunday regarding alcohol. I will find out when I get to the castle and let everyone know after I reach the other side.

This may be different with different preps... My doc ordered Fleet Phospho-Soda. On the directions, it does specifically say you should not drink any alcoholic beverages.

Here is what it says...

Do not drink any red or purple liquids. Do not drink any alcoholic beverages. Clear liquids that can be taken consist of:

Beverages:

Water, tea, or coffee (no milk or non-dairy creamer). Sweeteners are OK.
Soft drinks (orange, ginger ale, cola, Sprite®, 7-Up®, etc.), HydraLife®, Gatorade®, Kool-Aid®
Strained fruit juices without pulp (apple, white grape, orange, lemonade, etc.)

Soups:

Low sodium chicken or beef bouillon/broth

Desserts:

Hard candies
Jell-O® (lemon, lime or orange) - no fruit or toppings
Popsicles® - no sherbets or fruit bars

There was a thread a whlie back entitled "is vodka a clear liquid." I actually asked about white wine and was told no alchohol whatsoever.

Actually, my vote is that we should just be able to start the Versed as soon as we start the bowel prep!
