have you seen an endocrinologist? that type of dr might be more willing to work with you on meds. i've been hypo for a long time..i'd have to find some results of mine to compare to yours since i do take meds. i'll look later.
also, have you thought about your symptoms maybe being from your hormones? maybe they need an adjustment?

Cheryl,
It may be time to get another opinion. If you're not feeling well, something is obviously not right. My thyroid is very low, but haven't had to do prescription meds just yet. I take a supplement called Thyrosol.

thyroid

well, my gyn said he would be willing to stat me on a low dose thyroid med, but since I live so far from him(like 2 hrs) he would rather my fam dr follow it. Of course my fam dr(in passing) said my #'s were fine)My gyn would rather not prescribe it if my fam dr isnt on the "same page" and since he wouldnt feel comfortable writting for it "just in case" there were any negative side effects. Then there would be 2 drs disagreeing on treatment. So he advised me to see him and talk to him, and if he still says no to see an endocrinologist.
SO I have an appt w. my fam dr Sat morning.
XXX'ing my fingers here!!!
So now I am wondering are there Negative or BAD side effects of thyroid med IF it truly isnt needed and taken??

if you dont need the meds, you can become hyperthyroid which is no fun.
do you have to have your family dr's permisssion to see an endocrinologist? do you need some kind of referral to see one?

There are varying degrees of thyroid problems. Given you have some “low” numbers that need to be addressed; you need an expert to help you. Call and make an appointment for an Endocrinologist. I am hypothyroid and feel that a family doctor, although very knowledgeable, is not the best at treating thyroid issues. I’ve been ridding the thyroller-coaster 8 years now: my First TSH was 136, my current TSH is 0.377 & I’ve been every TSH in-between. Yee-haw!

Wishing you health and wellness!
