LAVH Incisions Question

I had my surgery on 6/12 and my doctor took my stitches out five days later (yesterday). Now it looks like one of the incisions is opening up a little. Is this common? The nurse told me no bandage, no ointment, just let them dry and heal. I am a little worried about this, should I call the doctor's office?

LAVH Incisions Question

I wouldn't listen to the nurse, I've had this happen after my surgery I had two weeks before my LAVH/BSO. I put anti-biotic cream and also put a bandage over it. You have to be the one who feels comfortable. Not them. If it starts bleeding a lot, then I'd contact the dr.

LAVH Incisions Question

Before doing anything, call your doctor's office. A doctor's nurse generally knows what a doctor does or does not do in most situations. If you are not comfortable with the nurse's advice, then you need to ask to either speak to the doctor or make an appointment. It is not wise to put anything on your incisions unless your doctor specifically tells you to do so.

From personal experience, once the bandages were taken off of my incisions from my laps and LAVH, I was not to put anything on them, period, orders from more than one doctor.

LAVH Incisions Question

I say verify again with the nurse, another option that I had after my LAVH were steri-strips. They are thin little peices of tape that keep the incision from opening, I would ask your doc or nurse if that could be an option!

LAVH Incisions Question

Thanks! I am worried, because one incision look like it's sealed and starting to heal, but this other looks like it's opening up and it's sticky.

LAVH Incisions Question

Call the doctor. If it is the spot where it is near or in your bellybutton, it may look like it is opening up, but it may in fact be healing. In my case, it looked open, but it was healing. I had a laparoscopic surgery in my early twenties and it did the same thing. It can do this with the others sites too, but always check before doing something that may not be good for the incision site.

Wishing health and wellness

LAVH Incisions Question

Hi Sunshine!
I would call the Dr if it makes you feel better. I had my LAVH and after my bandages were removed bruising took place. I began to apply arnica which is clear, non greasy homeopathic remedy. When I went to my 1st check up the Dr said he couldn't believe how well the incisions were healing.

LAVH Incisions Question

Good news! I went to the doctor for my 1 week follow up yesterday and he thought the incisions looked okay and not to worry.

Thanks for your support!
