2 weeks to go. feel like cancelling?
I'm scheduled for 2 weeks from today (7/8). After my initial freak out session on the surgery, I had actually calmed down and starting feeling good about it and just wanting it done. All of a sudden now, I'm scared again and think I shouldn't do it. I watched a video from the hospital and the 'risks' section freaked me out. I could live with my prolapsed uterus and large grapefruit size fibroid. So now I just seem to be questioning everything. Any kindred souls out there? Or someone to 'talk me down'. I'm sure it's normal to be nervous as it approaches...

2 weeks to go. feel like cancelling?
its very normal to be emotionally up and down before surgery. i was scared to death..mostly about the anesthesia. i had it before and never had any problems but i was sure i would with my hysterectomy. just try to keep your mind busy with other thoughts, try to block it out of your mind for now. i'm sure you'll be just fine

2 weeks to go. feel like cancelling?
I went through the same emotions, as well, especially after my pre-op visit with my surgeon where he told me about all the risks, possible complications, etc. But he also told me chances were slim that any of those complications would occur. Then a couple of days later, I was suddenly at peace with my decision (my symptoms started getting worse during that time, as well). I am now 4.5 weeks post-op and very happy that I went ahead with it. I actually could tell I was already feeling better when they took me from recovery to my room. Just the thought of having a foreign body inside me did not sit well with me. Just educate yourself and have positive thoughts! I hope your surgery goes well and you have an uneventful recovery!

Hi,
I just kept telling myself that next week at this time, I'll be out of surgury and in my room, next week at this time all the pain I have been in will be gone. And most of all, next week at this time, I will have control of me again and the pain will not be in control anymore!!!! Good Luck

2 weeks to go. feel like cancelling?
Hey there klw525.
You know I had the exact same feelings. I actually cancelled my procedure because of my anxiety, emotions and fears. Not only did I cancel, I stopped going to my Dr. because he seemed to be "pushing" this on me! I was given this website from a lady at work who didn't really know me, but felt the need to share her story and the story of this website! I thank the Gods every day for her and this site, because they literally saved my life. During the time between my fears taking over and the courage to see my gynocologist again, my hemoglobin level dropped to 6.1 (severe). I was given two days to get ready for my surgery or lose my life. Given the amount of family I had for support (and the family from this site) I had my surgery 2 weeks ago today! I am doing wonderful and have felt better than I have in ten years! All of this to say you have the strength inside of you to go through with this and you will come out feeling sore and alittle sad at first, however when you begin to heal and realize you saved your life you will reflect and have a new outlook on life and a new love for those around you! We are here! You can send me a private message anytime and I will be here as much as possible, as will every sister on this site! Your hystersister!

You know you are one of the wonderfully supportive people on this site! When you jump from the pre op to the post op section you will be right there for the next sister who is in need! You were brought to us for a reason and you are going to do great! Just remember, you are a woman and the strength and love is within all of us from birth and handed down from our mothers, grandmothers and every female ancestor that came before us! Being a Woman Rocks!

2 weeks to go. feel like cancelling?
I had a LAVH/BSO on 5/12/08 for prolapsed uterus also. I was so scared that I cancelled twice. My original date was in February and then I got the nerve up again and scheduled for April, but then my daughter needed surgery so I cancelled so I could help her with her baby. It was funny because both my children have had surgery this year, my son twice for a broke foot, and each time I was not as scared for them as I was for me. I then realized that if something was going to happen, then it just was meant to be. Wish now that I would have had it in February, I would be that much further along. I feel great after 6 weeks and am almost 100% pre-surgery. And it feels great to go for a walk or to the store without getting cramps, pressure, and feeling like my insides are falling out, so it was worth it. Hope you make the right decision and remember that we are behind you the whole way. God bless you in your decision. The time before the surgery is the hardest and longest. My six weeks have flown by.

Yep, no doubt about it................................your normal....lol. You have worked hard to get everything all lined up to have this done and you know you don't want to cancel. I think my (and most people's) biggest fear is the unknown. Just take a deep breath and think of your quality of life.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I have fibroids and prolapsed everything as well, and yes I can live with them and have been putting off having my surgery. I know I can cope with things the way they are but I am just so tired of doing that. Everything in life has risks but I keep thinking of the new quality of life I will have. I just don't want to feel like this any more, I deserve better. When my date gets closer I know I will be scared like you and those on the other side (maybe you) will let me know it's ok. Hugs to us all waiting.
