I bought the abdominal binder from the HysterSisters store, and have been using it since I got home, which was 2 1/2 days after surgery. The extra support feels good. I also use it to hold a bag of frozen peas against my belly. Sounds funny, but it works great! If you're not sure if you're healed well enough for a girdle or binder yet, call your doctor's office. That's what we pay them for, darn it! LOL
When I woke up after my TAH I had a binder on and came home with it. I had also ordered one from the Hystersisters and it is a little more comfortable. I wear it when I am walking or going to be on my feet a lot. The support does feel good.
Hi there sisters! Wow spinkydink I was just about to post the same question. I had a TAH on June 17th and ordered the binder from hystersisters. I was just wondering if any of you are wearing the binder with staples? I had half of the staples removed on Mon. the 23rd and hope to get the other half removed by the end of this week.
I still had my staples in when they sent me home. Didn't have any problems with them when I was wearing it. I wore it pretty much 24/7 the first week. I had a 9" incision so it gave me a lot of support.
I've been wearing one since Monday, which was 5 days post-op for me. Although I had a TLH, I didn't like the shifting/jello feeling in my insides, so I put my panty girdle on and it was great. I felt so much better. It might be all in my head too, but any little bit counts.
I didn't wear anything until I went back to work after 3 weeks, and then I really needed the support. Up until then I just didn't feel like I wanted anything tight around my belly at all. I got the Bali support panties and they're great. The problem is, they offer support, but probably won't do much to get rid of swelly belly. That goes away with time and excersize.
