care for belly-button after below-b-button incision

Hi, I had a supracervical laproscopic hysterectomy (LSH) on 6/26/08. Today I noticed something inside my belly-button that appears to be above the incision. I think it is likely lint matter from clothing that has stayed in there for about a week, but don't want to hurt myself by probing there. It is a little bit stuck and does not come out with showering or simply blotting with a clean dry towel or paper. The incision looks good and doesn't appear to be infected--no redness, pain around it or swelling. Does anyone else have experience with this they could share? Thank you!

I also had an LSH and today my belly button has been really itchy!!! My incisions were sealed with the clear glue stuff, and it is peeling away now. I was thinking the same thing of pulling it out but didnt want to disturb anything in there Maybe someone has an idea???

You said your incision was healing fine? I noticed one of my pelvic insicions was not healing as quickly as the other. Upon further investigation I noticed the glue. As I started to peel it away (the dr. told me to do this if it didn't disolve) I found a good chunk STUCK IN the incision, not just on top. Well I can't leave well alone and I pulled it out. Since then that incsion sight has heal much quicker.
As of the belly button I still have glue stuck in there and noticed it was very tender today. When is your post-op appointment? Maybe your dr. can tweeze it out then.

Hi

I had a LSH on Jan14 and I can tell you I saw stuff inside my bellybutton butI chose not to tough it ...i guess I was too afraid...i also had my gallbladder removed from my bellybutton...laprescopically and that doc made my bellybutton larger but the doc that did my LSH made my bellybutton smaller again. I used Band-Aid Anitseptic Wash. Just squirted it right in the belly button and on my other incisions. I also put some on a Q-tip as well and gently dabbed the incisions.

Hi, Thanks so much for all the responses. Yes my incisions seem to be healing without infection. My post-op appointment is Thursday July 10 so maybe I can wait until then. It could be it is that glue stuff--nobody told me to remove that--it is shiny glue like stuff covering each of my incisions. I don't want to let anything 'grow' in the belly button (eek) and cause a problem, yet I'm nervous about disturbing anything--may give a call to my Dr. office Monday. Thanks all for sharing your experiences with this!
