Hello VMC1965

At seven weeks you've probably been cleared by your doctor to resume most tasks. Even if this is the case, you have to build up your strength, and resume your life s-l-o-w-l-y. Don't try to do everything at once! Please be patient.

Each week will bring you new capabilities. At seven weeks I drove, resumed work, climbed stairs and wore high heels for the first time since surgery. And yes, I still felt tender and lethargic.

Take a deep breath and remember just how far you have come. Did you have an abdominal hyst? If so, there's still lots of healing going on inside of you. Ensure everyone around you at home and work is aware of your limits and make sure they still help you!

You will feel better each week.

I started feeling more like my old self at eight weeks post op.

I went back with dr's permission half-days after two weeks. I worked half days for two weeks, then worked 6 hours a day for another week and then was back 8 hours a day for two weeks, and finally back to my regular 10 hour days about 7 weeks after surgery. I took naps every day after coming home from work for the first month after returning to work.

Please take it easy and know that it will get better - just not as quickly as we would prefer.

By day's end your abdomen will probably feel heavy and swollen. All over you will feel fatigued. But smile - because you are on the comeback trail.

Like you, I resumed work at seven weeks and gradually resumed all tasks at work and home. To be honest it wasn't until five months that my full energy and mojo returned. But in the meantime, each week brought me additional strength and recovery.

The only thing I've got to work now on is my abdominal muscles!

Good luck to you. Remember to ask your doctor/hospital if you are unsure of your progress.
