EKG during pre-op exam?

I was told I needed to get an EKG when I scheduled my pre-op. I guess it's just procedure?

EKG during pre-op exam?

I had to have one. Alot depends on your age, history (smoker, etc.) and your doctor.

EKG during pre-op exam?

I also had an EKG done, but no chest x-ray. Had a lumectomy 5 months before my hysterectomy, and I needed a chest x-ray for that, but no EKG. The funny thing is the hospital that I had it done in is a well know heart hospital in the Long Island area !

EKG during pre-op exam?

I think EKGs are just one of those things that they don't routinely do unless there is something that warrants it. For example if there is something in your medical history that might suggest a need for one. High blood pressure usually warrants having one. For me when they took my blood pressure during pre-op, it was slightly high. They asked if I was on meds for blood pressure. I wasn't but told them that it sometimes goes a little high but not always. So they did the EKG just to be on the safe side.

EKG during pre-op exam?

Some of us have EKGs as part of pre op and some of us don't! So far I have never had an EKG as part of any pre surgical prep! Ask your doctor if you have any questions!

EKG during pre-op exam?

At the hospital where I had my LSH I was told that an EKG is not automatically done anymore prior to surgery. Only if there was some reason in my medical history. Best of luck!

EKG during pre-op exam?

I've been wondering if I'd have an EKG, chest x-ray, ect too.

My pre-op is on the 1st and so far I haven't been told I'd be having any major type tests before surgery. Been wondering though...

Good luck!
