How long does the gas stay in your body?

I had my Laparoscopic Hysterectomy on July 9th. Most of the time I feel good, but when I have gas my intestines hurt... I guess thats what it is. A BM still hurts too. How long does the gas stay in your body and is this normal?

I'm sorry you're still experiencing this.

It varies considerably, from person to person, as to how long this problem lasts. Some find it fades within a few days, whilst others are still suffering weeks or months later. If you try a Google Search of HysterSisters (towards the top right of every page) you'll find many different experiences to read through. It may also help to check out this HS article <link> Gas, Gas, Gas!

If it persists, or worsens, then please don't hesitate to have a word with your doctor.

Sending all good wishes for a smooth recovery!

How long does the gas stay in your body?

I had an exploratory lap last December and was plagued by horrible gas for a week. My LAVH was just two days ago and I'm hardly bothered by it. I had a different surgeon this time and he told me that the rate and pressure under which the gas is introduced can make a big difference in how you feel afterwards. I'm just really glad because last time was a nightmare--I actually threw up because there was so much pressure on my stomach. Hope yours feels better soon!
