Scheduled for surgery and scared....

Hello, I am 35 yrs old and having my Hysterectomy done on 8/14. In this time I also have to plan a military move. Granted I don't have to pack, but I still need to find a home in VA. We are coming from CA so everything has to be done via email or phone. My husband is also up for promotion and it looks very good. If he does get it I can pretty much count him as unavailable for approx 6 weeks. I have a teenage daughter who says she will be a big help and friends who will be around if, when needed. I am going to cook a bunch of "freezable" meals or buy easy to prepare things. I am pretty organized, but scared non the less. Oh and we are not living close to any family, so it is just us and friends.... Any advice or helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!!!

Heidi,
Being a retired military (Army) wife myself I understand the whole moving, finding a new home, setting it up without the DH being there becaue of the new job. Is the move scheduled soon after your surgery, or will you get to recover there at the current duty station? Is family close to Virginia / new duty station?
I don't have a lot of wise words of wisdom regarding your surgery as I am going to be going through surgery a week after yours, but I am here for you as someone who understands what life is like as a military spouse. My heart goes out to you, and your family.

We move 10/10/08, so it is right before. I am rushing to get what I can done before and it is a BIG headache. All of our family is on the East coast so it will be a great move with a lot of help!!!
