Last day off before returning to work

Well, I return to work full time (again) on Thursday.

I feel pretty good overall physically and emotionally. However, I am starting to stress over my return and how I will be treated by my supervisor.

I've applied for a handful jobs. Things sure have changed when it comes to the application process. Everything is via email and I have not heard back from anyone. I even called one place and was told the position wasn't filled, and transferred me to the HR's VM. I left a message. Never got a call back.

Then I emailed a different company to follow up and see if they received my resume via email which I had sent the week before (position was still open according to their website). Heard nothing.

It's very frustrating. My goal is to have a new job by the end of September. Not sure if that is realistic, but I'm gonna keep plugging away and not get discouraged.

No plans for my "last day of freedom" aside from an appt with my therapist.

It will be nice to go back for the fact I will feel "productive" again. PLUS I will be bringing money in again. 6 weeks without pay has been difficult.

2am. Wish I could sleep!!!!

Jess

Good luck! Remember your own great idea to kill her with kindness. If that doesn't work, use your broomstick.

Will talk again, I think I'm on an 8 week recovery cycle. Only up to week 7.

Dang, party is almost over..

Good luck going back to work Jess, I know you had a hard time going back the first time. I do hope that this tie is much smoother for you!

What do you do & why do you want to change jobs? is it all because of your hateful supervisor making your life miserable?

I wish you the best going back and for finding something new that is much more enjoyable!

Good luck, Jess! (((Jess))) I'll be thinking about you, hoping you don't have a rough time...

I've been job hunting too, I know, it is soooo different. And most of the time, you just never hear from anyone! I hate that...

Good luck sweetie!!!

Hugs!

Good luck on your return of round 2. Yeah job hunting is hard, exspecially the waiting, then about 2 or 3 weeks later you recieve something in the mail that looks like a postcard that says "We are sorry but we can not hire you at this time, but if we have any other postions avaiable we will consider your application." Yeah right.

I will be thinking good thoughts for you Jess. You have been so helpful to me. I "resigned" on March 18th before I knew this was coming. I live in Philadelphia and the reward for my successful performance was to give me more projects in NYC - they expected me to commute which was a nightmare. The day I left - had not told DH as I really had not thought it through - he grabbed me and hugged me and threw the blackberry on the ground and stomped on it and said, "it is about time!" Fortunately, I will get paid until August 20th, but given this long recovery I am starting to get anxious because I am the breadwinner. I have found a website that is helpful as it gathers info from many jobsites: indeed.com. This is a numbers game for sure and also networking. I am sure the best is yet to come

Last day off before returning to work

Thanks all of you for the well wishes!!

I'm just going to go in with a positive attitude. Since I am on 2nd shift, I won't have to see the wicked witch too much. While I was off, they were down to two employees in the office, so um, heehee, she had to work weekends! She had to work WORK, and not just "supervise" LOL!

I have looked for other jobs in the past. Why I want to work somewhere else has mostly to do with the hours/schedule. Every two months my schedule changes. I either work 1st shift or 2nd shift, or both. I get weekends off 3 months out of the year. And I work every holiday. I think
I have had Christmas Eve off once in the 7 years I have been there.

So, although the pay and benefits are excellent, it isn't worth it to me anymore. I want a normal schedule. I don't care if I must take a paycut. I just have to have health insurance. If my H adds me to his it will cost $300/mo, so then I couldn't afford a paycut. Whatever is meant to be will happen.

Good for you Grace! And thanks for the website as well!

I'm FULL of anxiety today. I didn't sleep last night hardly at all. Will be taking a nap later for certain!!

Otherwise, I've not had pain at all the past few days aside from a pinched nerve I have in my shoulder!

And just because I'm going back to work doesn't mean I won't be around here ladies LOL!

You're stuck with me.

Again, thanks for the awesome support!
Hugs
Jess

Hi Jess,

I so wish you well love! Keep a positive attitude and good things will come your way. Keep on plugging at new prospects. I find the older we get the harder it is to find employment. Find the beauty in other things like your family and friends.

I am still laughing so hard after reading what MsPhoenix wrote ...

Remember your own great idea to kill her with kindness. If that doesn't work, use your broomstick.

I will have to remember that one!

Chin up Jess!
Hugs,
Tracy

Hey good luck at work. Your not the only one who has noticed that things change in job search market. I think that the perfect job will come along for you. I get to work this weekend and am looking forward to it. I only work once or twice every 3 months for my old employer that I worked for 8 years ago. Keep your chin up, and take it easy.
