Yeast Infection anyone post -op 4 weeks

I had a TAH on June 24th, both ovaries were removed, as well as tubes, uterus, with large fibroid tumor. I just went back to the Dr. today (July 24 for a 4 week check-up. She said I was healing well, except for a yeast infection, probably caused by antibotics given during surgery. I was given an exam that was very painful with burning inside while I was being checked. She gave me a prescription of a cream (Gynazole.1) released me for sex, and housework with no vacuming or cleaning of floors. Went out to eat before coming home now I have a terrible backache. From what I have been reading on here this seems kinda early, anyone else experience this? Has anyone else gotten a yeast infection? I have'nt done much of anything other than just taking short walks in the house, just resting alot up until now.

sunshine923,

We share a hyster date. As of today, I am released for sex (which I have done once, experience was very positive for me), light housework, and exercise that does not specifically involve my abs (no crunches, etc.). I was also released to travel and am very excited about that. But, per my surgeon, I am healing very quickly so your experience may be different. Above all, I was told to listen to my body and add things bank in to my routine slowly.

Happy healing!

I got the same advice from my dr, listen to my body as far as doing things. I'm learning what I can and can't do.

I have a yeast infection, no itching, just some discharge and have read on here that it's not uncommon. I don't think it's much to worry about.

I'm 3 wks post-op.

I have a yeast infection too. It's a common side effect from all the antibiotics (I was getting IV antibiotics while in the castle and was sent home with more).

I was itching really bad, so I suspected I had one. I got a prescription for Diflucan (1 pill). Within the next couple days, I hope to start walking around so it does not look like I have jock itch .

I am almost 4 weeks post op and I developed a yeast infection about 4 days out from all the antibiotics they gave. I had to take antibiotics the day before surgery and then I had IV for 2 days. He me diflucan and I felt sooo much better after a few days. Love Beth

I also developed a yeast infection from the antibiotics (Cipro) I received in the hospital and had to take at home due to post op urinary infection. They prescribed Diflucan as well. To help with the itching my doctor told me to use A & D ointment or Desitin. It really helped. Feel better soon.

Yeast Infection anyone post -op 4 weeks

sunshine,

I had my check up on monday. (21st) I was cleared for everything but sex. I was told to wait a couple of weeks. I had a yeast infection that I got stuff for, after the exam I have to wear a pantyliner because there is some blood. Hopefully by sunday it will all be gone.
Good luck

I didn't receive any antibiotics during or after surgery, but at 2 weeks post op I had a yeast infection. My dr. said it's pretty common because of the increased blood flow with a vaginal cuff healing and such.

Oh goodness yes from all of the antibiotics that I was on in the hospital & for about 6 weeks post op. Diflucan & I are great friends now!

Much nicer than the cream, just one pill usually clears it all up, but my doctor gave me a presciption for 5 pills because I was told that the stubborn ones might need a little extra!

I am sorry for any of us that has to go through this, as if the surgery wasn't bad enough, right?!

Yeast Infection anyone post -op 4 weeks

I am 7 weeks post-op and I have had two yeast infections and two UTIs. I also had a throat and ear infection. Heavy bleeding until a few days ago. I guess it is all common. Right now I am waiting for my ob/gyn to call back. The UTI I have is getting unbearable.

At six weeks, the specialist didn't clear me for anything. He said to see my regular ob in a month.

I hope you are feeling better. Everyone heals differently. Call your doctor if you have any questions.
