thyroid problems

I just had 9 tubes of blood drawn and over half of them were for thyroid testing (he is doing some very thorough testing...) I find out Thursday what the verdict is. My doc thinks it is underactive. How about you? What problems are encountering?

thyroid

I was put on a low dose medication, 4 days before my TAH for Hypothyroidism. My dr. has been watching and testing for a couple years now as I've had a sluggish thyroid along with anemia due to excessive bleeding. The pre-op bloodwork #'s were the worst yet for both my hg and thyroid. The dr. and drugist both have told me it takes up to 6wks for the medication to show a difference and I'm only at 3.5 now, and so far not noticing that it's doing anything. Tough call as I'm still recovering from the TAH so it's hard to differentiate the aches and issues. Apparently once you start thyroid medication, it's for life, so previously I was trying alternative natural products to wake my thyroid up.
When I search online for thyroid issues and symptoms, the lists I find are very accurate to my symptoms. I look forward to the TAH being far into the past and with that many other problems being corrected and gone.

thyroid problems

Makes me curious what my levels will be when I go for my check with my regular physician, as I do not have a thyroid. I have noticed a difference in my sleeping habits and the way I feel overall, " a bit jittery" medicaiton may be a little much, hadn't thought about that end of the spectrum.

Hope everyone is doing great.
Hugs to all.

My TSH was down, which means I'm currently hyperthyroid. I'm on meds for being hypothyroid, though. My doc said that sometimes surgery will change the thyroid function. She having me retest in 2-3 months before she adjusts my Armour.

Interesting. I've been wondering that myself. I take thyroid replacement hormones plus adrenal replacement hormones. I've been a bit jittery since my surgery and wondering if my doses will need adjusting. Not due to get them checked until November or so and by then things should be settled down from the surgery so it will be interesting to see what comes of it. Until now, I've been stable for about 2 1/2 years.

thyroid problems

i have no thyroid removed because of cancer and before my operation I rang my endocrinologist and he stated that the hysterectomy would make no difference to my levels at all. And I actually have that statement in writing so Im hoping he is right because it has taken four years to get my meds level. Also is armour the combination thyroxin and tertroxin. I am in australia and never heard of armour

thyroid problems

My thyroid has been out of whack as well, but the again it alwyas has. In 1997 I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease (auto immune disorder inducing hyperthyroidism) & was prescribed Propylthiouracil (PTU) to bring my levels down. I had bad insurance at the time & had to see an endocrinologist that my insurance chose for me. She didn't have a ot of experience I left me on the medication for way too long which eventually killed off most of my thyroid sending me into the reverse auto-immune called Hashimoto's Disease, so I went onto synthroid.

What is odd is that occasionally what is left of my thyroid "wakes up" & sudden I jump from hyo to hyper. It is a werid conditon that the endocrinologist that I have now been with for 8 years called "Hashi-Toxie" syndrome, although when I've ever tried to google that I can't find anything about it.

Priot to my hysterectomy I considered having my thyroid removed to stop that from happening once & for all but since all of my complications from my hysterectomy quite frankly I am apposed to ANY surgery at this point!

My TSH levels changed after my hyster, I went hypo again & my synthroid dosage has gone up, very odd. But nothing these days surprises me when it comes to my body!
