Severe back pain with severe prolapse

So i have a severe prolapse, i'm 25 i have three kids. My rectum & bladder are also prolapsing so my dr recommended a hysterectomy. I'm quite stressed out about this. Does anyone else have back pain with their prolapse. How bad is it? I have severe back pain and am unsure if it's related to my prolapse. I'm new here so I don't know exactly what to say besides i'm scared to death of surgery & have no clue what to expect. My dr said she would take my uterus out & put in a mesh to hold up my bladder & rectum. Has anyone else had this? how bad is it? what is the recovery time & what is the recovery like? Thanks in advance for any help.

Severe back pain with severe prolapse

My bad hurt really really bad, I did not think it was soley because of my prolapses but it must have been because after surgery it was like a instance difference. I remember sitting in the bed telling my doctor it was a huge difference in that alone. I only had mesh with a sacrocolpexy (I think I spelled that wrong) but they attach mesh to the cuff and suture it to your backbone basically. I did have a rectocele and a cystocele but no mesh in those parts. The worst thing about mine was my incision pain which was controlled withs meds. I only needed them for maybe 2 weeks? Then Motrin did it.I was up and around but much better after 1 week. But if I did too much I did feel it.

Severe back pain with severe prolapse

i'm glad to have seen this thread! i've posted the same question on another hysterectomy board i'm part of. my surgery will be sometime at the end of october (i finally saw the surgeon today). braindead me though forgot to ask about my back pain (which is worse when i do my power walks or am on my feet for a long time, and even after sex). i'm glad to hear it's not just me, and there's probably nothing wrong with my back (as well as all my inside parts!). hopefully i'll have just as good of luck with back pain relief as you did kdweh!

Severe back pain with severe prolapse

kaceyleann--

Has your doctor told you anything about what s/he thinks your recovery would be? With an anterior & posterior repair with mesh, I'd bet you'd be recovering for at least 6 weeks if not more. I was actually told with my original surgery that my recovery would be 12 weeks. I was not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk--8 pounds--for that period of time. That's a looooonnng time especially if you have any young children around. You will need some help. Remember, no laundry lifting, no grocery carrying, no lifting of children, etc. Posterior repairs seem to make a recovery last a bit longer than just the anterior repairs alone. Often a perineal repair is done along with the posterior repair so be sure to ask your doctor about that. (It's like having an episiotomy.) I had a posterior repair done separately last year and it took awhile to fully recover from that. You can go to the Google Search box at the top right of most pages here at Hyster Sisters and type in the topic you are looking for info. about and see what posts come up. Try "mesh recovery" or "anterior posterior repair" those topics will both help you in looking for information.

Best of good luck to you........

Severe back pain with severe prolapse

I have vaginal prolapse and yes, I have back pain. Sometimes it feels like something pulling apart-like splitting type pain in my lower tummy. Guess thats where things are pulling down.

I'll have the sling, TAH with the mesh attached the cuff like explained in the post above.

Severe back pain with severe prolapse

I Am So Glad You Asked This Question! I Am 33 With 3 Kids & I Also Have A Uterine Prolapse And Recto And Cystocele. And Yes! I Have Terrible Back Pain! I Literally Cant Move Its So Bad At Least For The 1st 3 Days Of My Menses But The Rest Of The Month There Is Only Discomfort. I Wil Be Having A Hyst And A&p Repair On Sept.18th And I Too Am Extremly Scared! My Youngest Is 7 Months And I Hate To Leave Her At Home Just For 1 Day. My Hubby, Mom And Dad Will Help W/ The Kids But I Am Still Scared Of The Pain And The Anesthesia (what If I Dont Wake Up?) My Dr Said No Mesh. He Said It Causes To Many Problems Later In Life? But Each Dr. Has Their Own Opinion. What Ever Works For You! Best Wishes And I Guess We Should Both Relax...everything Will Be Ok

Severe back pain with severe prolapse

I had alot of back pain and it was gone right after my surgery. I didn't have a sling or any mesh. But the rectocle was the most painful part of the recovery but it was so worth it. It is hard with little kids but it can be done. I have 4 kids and you would be suprised what they can do when they have to!

Severe back pain with severe prolapse

I go tomorrow for my surgery so I guess I will find out on my own if it's related. I also found out I have Acebabular Dysplasia so that might cause some of the back pain to.
