Is this pressure/ache normal?

Well I don’t know what I have done but I know the vaginal pressure is the pits. I went to have my hair done today and my hairdresser said she had a LAVH (then 35 yrs old) and she was back to work 12 days later. Have mercy….just sitting in that chair for 2 hrs hurt me and I can not imagine having to stand and do hair all day after having this done. Is this pressure/ache normal? What is wrong with me?!

Is this pressure/ache normal?

Jelly Bean, Yes I would think that was normal. At 4 weeks post op I was still driving with a pillow under me. Some people heal faster and some people do too much and you see them on later threads where they are still hurting long after they should be. You are definetly normal in my experience.

Is this pressure/ache normal?

I still find it hard to sit on a hard surface for too long. It gets very uncomfortable and I start to have some pain. On Monday I will be five weeks post-op after a LAVH. I think we all heal at different rates and we all have different tolerances for discomfort. I am still trying to take it easy as far as lifting and such, but I have been doing laundry (sorting, folding, loading washer and dryer), loading and emptying the dishwasher and dusting. Today I am hoping to get to the bathrooms because they definitely need a good scrubbing!

Is this pressure/ache normal?

I had my laproscopic hyster. 6 weeks ago, and I still have soreness and pressure in my pelvic region. I had uterus, tubes, cervix, ovaries, and endometriosis tissue removed. I am not sure how much endo. tissue the Dr. removed, because he did not tell me and I forgot to ask at my 2 week visit. I feel like there is something very wrong with me that I can't be doing more without discomfort. I don't know if I set myself back by doing too much too soon, but it makes me angry when I hear these stories about women who are going back to work after 2 weeks, doing all these wondrous physical feats so soon, etc. Oh, I feel so useless and I feel like I want to cry!

Is this pressure/ache normal?

Sounds to me like she was bragging. Not a positive trait in someone who is in the company of someone who is still recoverying, hmmm.

Anyway, think about it....this woman likely had the same instructions on recouperation as our doctors gave us. Nobody goes back to standing-up-all-day job two weeks after major surgery without a strong financial reason to do so. What she didn't tell you was how much it hurt her every day, how many breaks she had to take during the day without being able to lie down, how much she regretted not being able to stay home in bed, in fact just how miserable it was for her to go back to work so shortly after her surgery.

Charlotte
(On week seven after TAH and just now beginning to feel normal, yet would never dream of going back to work for another two weeks, as my doctor recommended)

Is this pressure/ache normal?

Jellybean
I had my TVH on 6/17 and I still have a lot of presure it feels like something is on the other side pushing down on the vaginal cuff especially if I'm on my feet to long. My doctor did not give me any idea what to expect nor did I get an exam before she released me at my six wk. check so I am glad to know that other people experience the same thing at least it makes it seem more normal (whatever normal is) I was wondering if you had any disscomfort or presure when you pee? I still do but don't know why I read on one of the posts that if your bladder is pulled on to hard it can cause bladder spasms for months but of cource my doc. did not tell me that anyway I was just wondering if you knew anything about that. I hope you feel better soon

Is this pressure/ache normal?

There are so many things that the dr.’s fail to tell us and this is why this site is so important to so many it seems. What information that is available to us is nothing more than statistics from the medical community and very little from the actual patients that are experiencing these issues.

Beachfun..I too want to sit and cry because the statistics say I should be feeling limited pain and here in the real world it is a whole new ballgame. Only yesterday I had a friend tell me that I should be feeling so much better now..it has been a ‘month’ since your surgery, I thought you would be better by now.

Well, I don’t feel all that much better and that brings me to why don’t I feel that much better. I don’t go for my 6-wk check-up until Aug 20…I can accept recovery pain if that is indeed what we are all experiencing but to even think about having to deal with another medical issue before this one over is more than I can handle at this point.

North pole I do indeed have pressure when I pee…not like it was right out of surgery but there is a sensation there and I feel that same pressure feeling as you do when standing.. exactly!!

So what do you do stay in bed until the pain completely goes away? We can’t stand…we can’t sit and it hurts to walk…what is the answer?

Is this pressure/ache normal?

I am almost 4 weeks Post op and I have the pelvic pressure. It is almost like I have menstral cramps, go figure. The cramping moves a lot. I notice that I have a lot of pressure on my left side, probably bowel related. The good news is my bladder has settled down. I know what you mean that it just always seemed to hurt or have pressure when I would urinate. It has finally gotten better in just the past few days.

I am glad we can share so we know we are not alone in this. Each day brings a new adventure in recovery land.

Is this pressure/ache normal?

Found this on another site...One of those things that make you go "hmmmm."

Q: I have a HEAVY PRESSURE sensation in my lower pelvis. It hurts to sit a long time and I feel as though all my pelvic organs are trying to fall out.

A: Many women experience a reactive muscle spasm in the muscles of the pelvic floor. These muscles attach at the pubic bone in the front and the tail bone in the back. The vagina and rectum are between them. When they go into spasm, women experience a downward pressure feeling that may increase when standing for prolonged periods, sitting on those muscles, or passing a bowel movement. The best recommendations are to consciously relax those muscles, ie “Let it fall out!” Apply a heating pad to the front and/or back, and take ibuprofen. This should improve after a few days of employing these measures.
