Frustration, anyone?

Yesterday i had my sister come over, she drove me to Starbucks and to McDonalds...today I feel like i did over a week ago - I feel like just that small outing set me back and it is so frustrating!! I had to get out of the house, I am so bored...now I don't think i should have gone out. Tomorrow is my 2 week appt and I hope everything is ok.....this boredom is the worst....can you all relate?

frustration

Hi Deb ...

Girlfriend I can completely relate. Im going on 4 wks post op and practically do NOTHING and start to feel all yucky again. I had a weekend alone with my wonderful other half, no kids, no outside problems or anything, nice and quiet and relaxing. We went a few places that didnt require alot of walking...mostly riding in the car and let me tell you, last night, I felt terrible. All achy and yucky ... you might have thought I tried to run a mile with a 50lb backpack on my back.

Our bodies let us know when we've overdone it even when our minds dont believe we really are. Its a shame the two cant get together BEFORE you do something to let you know its too much.

Hang in there ... I can do way more these days than I could at 2 wks post op .... you'll get there! Im enjoying the pampering tremendously!!

Frustration, anyone?

{{{{{ Deb,}}}}}}}

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling badly...we've all been there.

You have to think about the "Big Picture" here. It's not worth it to rush your recovery. What's a few weeks of taking it easy compared to the rest of your life without the old problems?

When you overdo it, you are going to have to backtrack in your recovery. If you take it easy, however, you'll recover faster. Let THAT be your motivation to resist the temptation to overdo. It doesn't take much, as you've found out.

You only have ONE chance to heal properly from this MAJOR surgery, and this is it!

My very best to you...

Frustration, anyone?

Deb, I just want to say that riding in a car just about killed me especially that early in the recovery time. I even posted about it thinking something was wrong with me, so that may be why you feel so awful. I understand the boredom but you need to rest. Have some friends come over and visit to relieve you of the boredom. Tell your doctor how you feel tomorrow. Let him know your frustrations. Take care and good luck to you.

me too!!!

Hello I am only 1 week post op. today and I'm already bored silly. I'm staying at my mums, which is great because at least I have her to talk too and putter around with. If I'm this bored now I don't know what I'm going to do for the rest of the time off! You said that you went into the car, wasn't that painful? I'm too scared to do that after the ride home from the hospital, that was enough to put me off for life. I have started a "journal" and that has not only helped pass the time away, but it also helps me with my feelings on everything that has happened to me. Maybe if you give that a try it might help. Believe me there are a lot of entries that say " I'M BORED SILLY!!!!!"
Good luck with your recovery

You think your frustrated? Hear this!

I am 9 weeks post op and still having problems. I had TAH June 5, 2001. I still can not get on underwear. They said I had some fluid that leaked out during surgery and formed a pocket, everytime I sneeze or cough it feels like someone is ripping my leg out of the socket!!!!!

Just got off the phone with my Dr. again. I am so tired of hearing you are a slow healer.

I feel like am only 40% of 100% where I should be by now.

I still can not do any housework , I am doing some driving, but it kills me. I am still sleeping on the couch because we have awaterbed, tried that thought I was going to die for sure! So I got back on the couch.

I never dreamed I would still be in this shape.

So talk about frustration!!! Honey I get the prize for that.

I hope you are doing well .

Just had to respond to this.

Take care and good luck.

Monique I am so sorry to hear that! You must be so frustrated, Yes I think you should get the prize!

I have been trying to tell myself over and over that this is my 1 chance to heal so go slow...and that is helping.

I do go outside on my patio to read in the sunshine and I have tan lines now so I feel as if I have accomplished something!!!

Good luck to you - deb

to monique h...

Hi Monique,

I'm so sorry you're feeling frustrated, and I certainly understand how hard it is to have patience.

However, if it makes you feel any better, most sisters are INDEED only about 40% at your stage. A GYN has stated that after 6-8 weeks you are only 40% healed...and that it takes at least 6 months to a year to heal TOTALLY inside.

I was feeling healing pains quite a bit at your stage too, sometimes very sharp ones. It took me 8 months to stop feeling them...they slowwwwly tapered off.

If it's any comfort, know that there are LOTS of sisters right here in your situation, wishing they could be 100% by 2 months or so. Many of us, including myself, had no idea how long this recovery could take until we found this site.

s

My very best to you...

In The Same Boat

Deb,
I felt so much better on Wednesday and loaded the dishwasher took a shower and wiped down my kitchen countersand was in awful pain that night. My dear boyfriend was andworried about me Today I have to go to the bank and the drug store, a friend from work in taking me and I am afraid of how I will feel later.

My says it is normal for me to feel so whipped after doing small things. We have to remember that even light activities are a challenge for us while we heal.

I am 2 weeks post op today and still feel weak and tired.Hell just a short walk to the bathroom is like a workout for me.I am cleared for stairs today but my body says NO WAY JOSE so I am still on the couch.

I feel so useless some days but Soon sister we will be up and around making our men crazy.
