Fibro + anesthesia + post op pain

I had a cysto/hydro done for my IC and when I woke up I was in AGONY. My whole body hurt, I could barely move, and cried like a baby. I was told by someone very educated that the anesthesia reacts with a chemical that us fibro sufferers have in our bodies...it causes us more pain than regular people. My question is....how do you get the nurses to treat your pain? I am already on a ton of pain meds due to other health problems and am ready for the "look" healthcare professionals like to give us chronic pain patients....I'm scared to be in pain like that again and not have it treated.

I've talked to my pain mgmt doc and the gyn about this and they both told me they would treat my pain, but I'm worried it still might not be enough.

Anyone experience this? I'm a RN and scared out of my mind because I know how nurses think.

Fibro + anesthesia + post op pain

I did experience the kind of pain you are talking about. My problem was that I woke up before I was given anything for the pain. I woke myself up screaming, crying and praying. I would never wish that kind of pain on anyone. Me and my dr have talked about using an epiduran and general anesthesia. So no matter when I wake up, it is sure to be pain free. We also talked about doin a spinal and some sedation (not general). I react weird to morphine and any pain killers so I am leaning towards the epidural and then maybe some demerol with phenergan. i hope this helps! Good luck!
