Fleet enema for bowel prep

I also had an enema as my bowel prep (actually, I had two of them once I got to the hospital).

It was pretty easy to do, and actually pretty uneventful. I think it's easier to do an emena than the other bowel preps out there.

Best wishes. Hope this helps.

Oh it was awful. I was just telling someone about it actually who had to do one.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING goes up my butt. No way. So I knew it would be a problem. I made sure to buy a four pack of the stuff. So when it came to try, took one out, went in the bathroom, the majority ended up on the floor. I ended up using all four and I think maybe 1/4 of one bottle actually went where it was supposed to. So it didn't work for me.

My H offered to help and I was like, "Oh NO you won't!" There was no way I was gonna have him help with that LOL.

Anyways, good luck!!!!

I was given an enema once I got to the hospital. It really wasn't that bad.

Just follow the instructions that come with it. My dr recommended using it in the bathtub - that way any cleanup needed would be easy

I have to have one too, and I am worried..

I don't want help, but am unsure if I can do it. Can you buy them at a pharmacy or do you need a script?

You can get them at most pharmacies without a script. I usually get any needed at Walmart

I had to do one and was a bit concerned. It turned out to be no big deal really. I actually did it lieing on a bed...with a towel of course. It really wasn't that hard to do. Like pp said, just follow instructions and you should be fine. I just picked them up at WalMart...it came in a double pack.

Try not to worry- It will go fine! Read the instructions a couple times and look at the illustrations. I did it the evening before my hyster - I put a big towel down on the bathroom floor, brought in a magazine and just stayed (on the floor in the bathroom for the 10 minutes or so it took- it was a weird posture- but the liquid needs to go where it needs to go). Take it slow and easy - Buy a 2 pack just in case- but I bet you won't need it! Good luck!

Ugh, I had to give myself TWO Fleet's, and that was after a full-on bowel prep, pretty much like the one you do for a colonoscopy. So those Fleet's hurt like heck because my tushy tissues were sore. I hated them, but what can you do? You'll be OK, put some tushy cream on yourself, like Prep H or something. I did the magazine down on the floor business too, of course I had been in there most of the day anyway! Those 2 Fleet's were my first, and I hope and pray they were my last!
