exercise bike/lifting wgts

Hi, Jody,

I was antsy the way it sounds you might be, just after my surgery. I ended up doing too much and tore my internal (vaginal) stitches, with orders to bedrest for 3 weeks straight, after an office cauterization to close up my vagina.

I don't know what kind of surgery you had. I had DaVinci, and my tiny incisions externally had healed so well I figured, hey, I am getting better.

Please consider calling your doctor and getting recommendations about exercise before doing anything like the bike or lifting weights. You don't want to rip anything internally that will interfere with a speedy recovery.

My two cents, based on my experience. We all heal differently, of course -- but your doctor will know your body's abilities and will have suitable recommendations for you.

Good wishes to you on a speedy recovery!

exercise bike/lifting wgts

I'm almost 3 weeks post op and had a LAVH. I'm dying to get back to my training but I know the risk is NOT something I'm willing to take. Maybe you can read the forums where lots of sisters(including blueheron2003 above) talk about what happened when they pushed too soon and that will answer your question.

I'm just starting to be able to walk at a good pace so I'm going to use walking as a way to ease back in. I know my muscle memory will kick back in as soon as I'm able to start training again so I'm heading to the warnings of all the great sisters who share their insights here and let my doctor be the judge at my 6 week check up.

happy resting sista!

Re: exercise bike/lifting wgts

I am at 4 weeks with an abdominal TAH and a few days ago I was okayed by my surgeon to ride my bike!!!! I was warned to take it easy, start small and avoid hills. With any pain at all I was to stop. It was awesome riding, but I sure got tired quickly. Still it felt great! No weights, stomach work, impact stuff, swimming or lifting still, though. However just having cycling feels great.

popecav,
When did you have your surgery? Your survey indicates it is in the future. Please change the date in your profile so you can enjoy the benefit of Post OP support http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/forumdisplay.php?f=3

Thank you Kim -- I must have ignored the month when first setting up my account! My op. was on Feb. 25th 2013. Take care.
