TVH BS0 with Bladder Sling

Hi,
I am new to the forum. It has really given me peace of mind. My TVH BSO with bladder sling is this Tuesday. Seems like I have been on an emotional roller coaster. I will be glad when I am feeling better. Had my preop Friday with my Dr. and will have my APEC Monday at the Hospital. Are there others out there that have gone through these proceedures together? How did yours go? Wish me luck!

TVH BS0 with Bladder Sling

I had a pubovaginal sling 5 years ago- just had LVAH 9 days ago. Since I had mine separately I'm not sure if this will help. I had to use a catheter-inserted by myself each time I urinated for the first week or so and had to measure my urine output. (One side benefit- I was able to pee standing up!) Eventually I would urinate on my own and then finish the job with the catheter until I could empty my bladder completely on my own. Even now, five years out - it is difficult to empty my bladder first thing in the morning - but my life is so much better now. I no longer scope out every building I enter for the location of each restroom. And I am no longer a leaky drippy faucet. Yippee!
I'm finding the hysterectomy to be a little more painful but not excrutiating. My SIL had the two procedures together and never had to use a catheter so the cath thing might not be an issue for you at all.
I prepped my freezer with easy meals to make it easier to deal with the aftermath but all in all both were positive outcomes.
Hope that helps
